in Xperia Z4 and Z3+ series

Verizon Xperia Z4v Hands-on_1Sony Mobile and Verizon announced the Xperia Z4v earlier this week. The handset is broadly the same as the Xperia Z3+/Z4, but has a few key differences including a 5.2-inch WQHD display, wireless charging and a bigger battery (3000mAh). To compensate for this, the Xperia Z4v is both thicker (8.6mm vs 6.9mn) and heavier (160g vs 144g) than the Xperia Z3+/Z4.

The Verge went hands-on with the handset and said that the Xperia Z4v is “basically just a thicker Z4 that looks a bit rougher for the changes” that is well-made with a bright display that “fades off as you look at it from the side.” Android Central also went hands-on and said the phone “feels great in the hand” with the software flowing wonderfully given the use of the Snapdragon 810 chipset. Check out the hands-on pictures below.

Even if this customized Verizon xperia device is only for America, I personally like the design.

That Verizon logo is terribly ugly? Why do they do such thing?

  • Ambroos

Verizon just does that, it’s pretty horrible.

I think that every carrier logo can be removed with a bit of alcohol. anyway, i would never ever buy phones from carriers. they f up the design and software. with that said, i understand people who buy phones with a plan like in the usa because they get the phone cheap. i’m glad i dont’ have to because there is no plans with phones where i live.

  • Timel

Bottom bezel is too huge, very fugly!

  • Niels d. G.

So it has that sandwich design, like a Z3 Compact but bigger and without the liquid reflection frame.

Also I think that the increase in thickness is pretty odd as they only added a negliable 70 mAh to the battery.

  • A.o.D

They added wireless charging too which also increased the thickness

  • Like (y) :)

I have nothing against phones from carriers, but I strongly oppose to those that ruin the design language, the software experience – by pre-installing rubbish ad-ware, a bunch of useless apps; and use lousy brand sticks (like in this terrible case)! It’s incredible to notice the way a beautiful object can be ruined when 3rd parties misappropriate and overlay the original design!
Shame on verizon! I would even go a step further and advise Sony to use a brand-less front face in all of their products. Sony’s logo should only be visible at the back. That would be a strong, single, clear and objective statement. No need to invent! I believe that consumers buy a certain product primarily because of their “inner brand” (the appeal, the quality, the design, the sense of uniqueness, the experience and lastly and least import the performance), not because it has a huge (and often ugly) disproportioned logo! Honestly, it looks like Verizon lacks confident and thus coerces users with their shitty, lousy, ugly, boring, useless, distracting, repulsive, abhorrent (in portuguese: medonho; meaning it scares people away) logo and marketing! Grow up, people!

ps: fortunately, in Portugal there is no such thing as Verizon…

Both review sites didn’t say a thing about the SD810 overheating issue. Apparently is that fixed? With a bigger body and use of more plastic rather than metal, would that be Verizon’s solution, along with the usual tramp stamp? lol

  • nick sweden

like the design . like the extra features , i dont bother if it thin or thick :) wireless charging wATERproof , no usb cover :) beeing better and better :) fast updates :) hope it will come to sweden:)

  • Moonlight

You can easily root your device and get everything out of it!

  • jmaxim917

You are absolutely correct. I would never buy a Version phone because of that ugly logo that they are so obviously proud of.

    Even verizon logo

I find it funny how the z2 has the biggest battery out of the entire z series it has 3200mah z3 has 3100mah I think but somehow seems better than the z2

  • roeshak

You’ll find the answer to your question in the different display panels used. The z3 has a very cold power saving lcd panel while the z2s is much warmer and nicer to look at but more power hungry.

  • Oliver P.

    I need this livewallper!!!!!!!!

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

Ah yes that makes sense still can’t see why they let the z2 have the biggest battery why net let the successor’s last even longer? That would be good

  • hmmm

plastic bezel, just like z2…bleahh!european version is better!

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

But I like the design over international Z3+, This is much better design I think.

  • yuskhayru

    That logo. Lol

  • Great Dude

In Sony’s opinion : they get two days of battery and that is enough for these phones, they reduce the battery size to decrease phones thickness making it more appealing to customers to buy.
Sony: Smaller Battery ———> Less thickness ——> More profit.

  • Ryan Kumar-jassi

Fair enough didnt know that the mah of a battery determined how thick and heavy a phone was thats why the crapple iPhone 6 has like a 1600mah or what ever it is

A blog post where timel isn’t trolling and is instead commenting some reasonable opinions?
What dimension have I fallen into? :O

  • marcyff2

Nao e preciso escrever a disertacao de universidade num post. :)

But on a real note Z4v is what Z3+ should have been, apart from that stupid logo, the top and bottom bezels are cleaner, and the extra millimeters don’t bother anyone. I don’t really care for WQHD but the wireless charging is a huge bonus

  • stolnheartdealr

yeah but you shouldn’t have to, unfortunately even for ‘bloatless’ phones like the moto g there’s still some google apps and such that are installed as ‘system’ apps that shouldn’t be imho
