in Firmware, Xperia M2

Xperia M2_18.3.1.C.1.16A minor update has been certified by the PTCRB for the Xperia M2 (D230X). The update is a marginal one and would move the build number from 18.3.1.C.1.15 to version 18.3.1.C.1.16. This may be the last Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, before Sony updates the Xperia M2 to Android 5.1 Lollipop later in the year.

Xperia M2 firmware build number 18.3.1.C.1.16 certified for D2303, D2306 variants

Offtopic : recently many Xperia devices got android M development support including t2 ultra but the first gen Z devices were left out.. Does that mean they’re reaching EOL??

  • Sergio

There’s a typo in “before Sony updates the Xperia M to Android 5.1 Lollipop later in the year”, it’s Xperia M2, not Xperia M ;-)

First gen Xperia Z reached EOL ages ago, that device is lucky it got 5.0, I doubt the Xperia Z will get Android M, same applies for Xperia M2-even though they released dev previews.

    Thx!

they released 4.2 AOSP for Xperia S and it hasn’t get the update.
xperia SP was supposed to get Android 4.4, but also…

    don’t hold your breath

No offense but what did you expect? Original Z series reached EOL some time ago but it’s still supported by SONY. 5.0.2 was miracle and 5.1.1 is even bigger miracle. So by my opinion 5.1.1 is going to be last update for Z series and some other mid-range phones (M2).

I’m not expecting M for my ZR and I’m very much satisfied with its updates. I just want to confirm if it’ll get or not :)

SP had really bad luck. 4.1.2 and a buggy 4.3 that made a beautiful phone a shit.

The M2 is not even 18 months old. And it shares the SoC with other Xperia. Since the M developer preview is already out there I don’t see why it shouldn’t get the official release.

What about lollipop for Xperia E3

  • aidy.lucas

yep very unlikely they’ll be updated from what i can gather 5.1 will be the last one.
