Xperia Z3+ and Z4 Tablet NOT heading to Canada

in Sony Tablet, Xperia Z4 and Z3+ series

Xperia Z4 TabletIf you are in Canada and were hoping to get your hands on either the Xperia Z3+ or Xperia Z4 Tablet, then we’ve got some unfortunate news. Sony Mobile Canada has confirmed that it has “no current plans” to bring either device to the region.

However, every cloud has a silver lining and Sony confirmed that there are “great new products coming to Canada later this year.” This pretty much confirms the launch of new products in the second half of the year. Not a surprise, as earlier today Sony teased a new Xperia device may land next week on 3 August.

Sony Canada statement on Xperia Z3+ and Z4 Tablet availability

“Thank you for all of your inquiries regarding the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 Tablet. We really appreciate your enthusiasm and we know that you are our most dedicated fans so we wanted to give you an update on these products. Sony Mobile devices are sold in partnership with Canadian carriers and retailers and there are no current plans to bring either of these devices to Canada. There are great new products coming to Canada later this year so keep an eye here for more information. Sorry and thanks for understanding.”

  • pkash2097

    That’s why Sony broke af.

  • John Smith

To all Canadians on here: I purchased my Wi-Fi Z4 Tablet on expansys! Great device, got it for around 724CAD before tax

  • MoYeung

Canada sucks, small market, backward country.

  • Joephus

Nope, Canada is still one of the greatest nations on earth. You’d be blind to think otherwise.

  • ffgfgf

As someone who has lived here since birth I would say Canada is probably the most overrated country in the history of the world. It’s a liberal hellhole where people have a massive inferiority complex vs the USA and where nobody really speaks the same language. It’s also got horrifically poor weather and is very difficult to get ahead in due to the astronomical cost of living.

  • ffgfgf

Wow that’s a terrible price. Canadians have terrible purchasing habits. Might explain why shitty condos in Toronto and Vancouver are going for a million dollars.

  • Graham Perkins

I’d say that’s an admission that those models aren’t being well received in other regions. The Snapdragon 810’s reputation probably is the culprit, I mean Koodoo stopped carrying the HTC M9 already

  • MoYeung

Absolutely true about inferior complex, just ask the Canadians actors and actresses living in USA.

  • xperiaDROID

Well, that’s a good idea. The Z3+ isn’t that well received, so better not launch it in to many countries. For the Z4 Tablet, it still remains as one of the best Android tablets for 2015.

Hope they won’t messed up again on the Z5 series.

  • Timel

Good of Sony. Nobody buys their stuff here anyway. Every carrier lists Sony on their 2nd or 3rd page. Unless they are willing to spend, it’s better to stay away from the shame..

  • Svnjay

    Ah, you’re a Canadian. I’m stalking you ;)

“Sony made almost the same mobiles from Z1 to Z3+”

Except that we know that isn’t true.

    ” less revolutionary design = less R&D”

    Because omnibalance wasn’t revolutionary.

  • nfs2010

I guess he’s the reason why Sony decided to skip Canadian market this time =)

  • Svnjay

Sony wanted to punish him :)

or maybe they can’t build a mobile up to my standards yet..

  • Aiden Pearce

Well well who do we have here again!!

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

I don’t see the big lost here. I mean sure some people might want it, but I doubt there’s a lot. The Z3+, is a real failure for Sony and anyone who says otherwise must really be blind.

As for the Z4 Tablet, I’m sorry you guys won’t get it. It really has been getting a lot of good reviews.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

My point exactly. Z3+ is a, “meh”, at best. And no matter how big of a Sony fanboy anyone is they must be blind to not agree. Sony is just to stuck in its Japanese market to figure out that catering to their home market first, then the world will only hurt them more. Simply release a flagship once a year. Put forth some real great ideas and everyone will follow.

The real lost is the Z4 Tablet. No doubt it can still be purchased through 3rd party dealers, doh.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Well, Sony couldn’t put the 808 and says it’s the latest chip there is. Even though it would’ve made a smarter choice. Can’t help but wonder if a few more people would’ve traded up from their older Z devices to the Z3+ if it ran the 808 instead of the 810.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

To be fair every country sucks. Only the people living their can give you a real idea of why it sucks. It’s not so great here in the US.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

What does this have to do with the Z4 Tablet or Expansys?

  • Very true. They’ve closed all their retail stores here. And the 2 flagship policy basically ruined them in Canada – Bell gets the H1 flagship exclusive, and H2 flagship is avaliable on most carriers, but nobody is buying them in December, knowing the next flagship is just around the corner. Besides even bell gets those exclusives in May/June, 5-6 months later than Europe and Asia.

I own the original Z and Tab Z, they are the worst phones and tablet pair I’ve ever owned. Build construction issues, overheating, horrible software updates. Sony is a failing company. They are proud of their image sensors, but even there samsung is going to eat their lunch soon with 16nm chips (yesterday’s press release). PS4 sells well, but wait until xbox mini and DX12.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

I have to say. In my opinion, you are a Sony fan. Sometimes you come off as a jackass, but at the bottom of your sometimes misspelled rants there’s some truth. In the end you want Sony to do well.

You want a great design, great screen, same great battery life, just a great Xperia device. As should all Sony fans. And after the Z3 (and some would say Z2), Sony hasn’t really done anything. It’s the same design slowly changing, same camera with a software tweak that’s very unnoticeable. Sony should be better than that, and having blind fanboys praise them over and over when they really need to be criticized only hurts them more.

Reddit’s Android and SonyXperia subs are full of fans who would agree Sony is falling behind. I agree, with you. Their mobile devices need to change, and if we keep sugar coating and looking away from their screw ups then we end up with more devices like the Z3+.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Relying on their image sensors is a very risky move by Sony. I don’t know what makes them think that Apple isn’t working on building their own sensors in house. Samsung is already doing it, and both Apple and Samsung have the better software to match.

As for the Xperia Z, mines had some issues when I had it. The glue on the back panel was wearing off. The matte finish on the Xperia Z and Z Tablet’s edges were scraping off too. But, I will say my other Xperia devices have done very well in terms of build quality and durability. I’ve dropped them multiple times on concrete and asphalt (without any cases or screen protectors) and while the glass gets very small hairline scratches I’ve had no cracks or issues with their water resistance.

  • MoYeung

Closing retail stores was because the economy in canada getting worse here, year after year. Best buy is so empty; futureshop is gone.

  • MoYeung

On average, USA is better than Canada.

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Well, we have rampant gun violence. A gun culture that refuses to recognize said violence, or for that matter take any action. We also have people who deny global warming simply because it’s colder in the winter and it snowed more. Plus we have a huge wage and income gap. So, huge the top wealthiest has more money combined than literally everyone else. And for some reason we still can’t accept the rights and lifestyles of the LGBT community, and still have obvious racism and race inequality

  • MoYeung

Since we are talking about USA and Canada, let’s assume we are talking about middle class white guys. (obviously, I am not one)

Having said that, I don’t see USA any worse than Canada.
USA has more opportunities, lower prices, bigger portions, more selection of goods, better weather, lower unemployment rate, stronger currency than Canada.

I do agree each country has its own problems. But for an average white guy, USA is definitely better than Canada.

  • Daniel Craig

Hey Aiden how’s CtOS treating you?

  • lbwc

Not missing much here. The SD810 basically killed the Z3+…lets hope Sony learns their lesson and puts an SD808 into the next so-called flagship phone.

  • Sure apple is closing their stores too…. oh wait…

  • MoYeung

Apple store is one of the rarest exceptions, by no means, indicative of marketplace norm in Canada.

  • DBS

Shame about the Z4 Tablet but Canadians will most definitely NOT be losing anything by not getting the Z3+.
Some of us in Europe didn’t get it either and I haven’t seen a single person complaining about the absence of that piece of crap of a phone. Everyone I know is more than satisfied with the Z3 albeit disappointed by the camera.

  • DBS

“It’s not so great here in the US”?????

What sort of ‘murican are you?! Do you want to get your ass kicked, pal? ‘murica, f*ck yeah!

(Just joking, mate. But I’m pretty sure I’d find a couple of Americans who would say what I just said if they read what you wrote. Some even with Presidential aspirations…XD)

  • BruceLeeRoyJenkins

Well, it’s true. But every country has something wrong with it. With all the shit that happens here in the US we got some pretty good shit.

  • Sadman Khan

He’s the only one who uses Xperias for hacking

  • fried_egg

No sign of EE in the UK taking up the 3+ either… and their model range is now down to only 5 models (which includes refurbs)… I am hoping this is because the “5/bond” is due for the normal september show announcement with october delivery… perfect for my z1 replacement… because i dont want an iphone and i dont want a 6 month old htc or samsung (i am someone who likes the sony 6 month refreshes because i dont buy phones that have been out more than 4 months….)

  • fried_egg

“latest” they could, as 808 & 810 are launch sisters… “best” they could not without upsetting the marketing of the qualcomm flagship chip :) – but i know you meant “best” in your comment…

  • fried_egg

have a thought for Belgium which speaks 3 plus all of the world ones where representatives have based themselves due to the EU functions housed there… but Canada is “wealthier” than the USA… downsides, it is vast and not as easy to populate, half of it speaks French (oh dear) and it has a more “European” feel to a North American basis… The USA on the other hand is very different from coast to coast and north to south – just as europe is, due to it’s weather differences (which greatly affects “local culture”) wealth distribution and various “immigration” hot spots that are due to who uses the “entry point” more to other points…
That leaves, the GREAT b… as best ;)

  • MoYeung

Canada is poorer than USA, always has, always will be; hence the inferior complex with these Canadians.

  • fried_egg

not recently in the most important measure… the middle class… the ultra rich is a niche and the peasants, no one cares about

  • Alvin

well you’re wrong now sony.. you’re doing it all wrong. In canada, z3+ will be success in canada. why? why?

here’s why.. because canada is a really cold country is most parts, they could attract consumers there to buy an all-in-one phone, that could be used as a heater, as a frying pan, or just a simple thing, fry an egg with reduced cholesterol because they don’t have to use oil for it, unlike before, just with z3+ alone. and you can also use it as a good smartphone for your everyday life.

you just took three steps back sony.

  • Alvin

well mate, congratulations, you just took people to their rage because you talked about country or race talk :D:D

  • Alvin

z3+ will not be in canada? BIG DEAL nobody cares. z4 tablet not selling to canada.. that is the funny thing to me, their strategy sucks. that tablet is amazing.

they must have a new, better, greater tablet for that, let’s just hope i’m right

  • Aiden Pearce

    not good exactly!!
i need to take care of damien, that slipery idiot

  • MoYeung

small market, not much money to be made here, so don’t bother.

  • MoYeung

Drive down to USA and buy one.

  • Timel

Reviews don’t earn money my friend. Tell me, which of Sony’s last few devices haven’t had good reviews? Correlate that with sales and you will end up with a weak co-efficient

  • Raj Singh

Or buy it online and get it shipped to your front door.

  • Daniel Craig

    Good luck with that!

  • Betty M. McKinney
  • Now that it’s $560 usd I guess importing is not so bad

  • Rafa?

Firstly I’ve read “Xperia Z3+ and Z4 Tablet NOT overheating in Canada”, thougt I have to move to Canada to avoid Z3+ overheat.

  • David Matley

Well Mo, if you have that opinion of Canada why do you still live there? If you came from another country and immigrated perhaps you should return to it or move to the US. With that attitude Canada would be better off without you.

  • MoYeung

Your mentality is typical of most Canadian.

How do you know I am not planning to leave? Maybe Canada lied, cheated and screws me and I have lost lots of money here.

Better yet, you tell me what does Canada offers.

Meanwhile, you can google “The Washington Post

Some Syrian refugees in Canada already want to return to the Middle East”.

  • David Matley

Yep, pragmatic and common sense orientated would be typical. Canada is not for everyone, so it doesn’t surprise me that some Syrian refugees want to leave, any more than some want to stay. It sounds like your experience coming to Canada wasn’t what you expected which is unfortunate. You comment on a public forum that “it sucks” is offensive, as such you offended me, and thus my response. Good luck in finding a place where you can be happier.

  • MoYeung

The problem here is most Canadians don’t take criticisms well. You have been brainwashed to think you are superior to everyone else.

You didn’t prove my statements about Canada and USA were factually wrong; you were unhappy because the truth hurts your pride.

By the way, all the rich and famous Canadians choose to reside in USA instead of Canada. Can you name a few? Wayne Gretzky, Mike Myers, Donald Sutherland, Pam Anderson, a Canadian poet died in New York, former Canadian ambassador to Iran in 70’s died in his home in NY, etc. etc.
