Xperia X10Today’s question for you is what was the first Sony Xperia device that you ever owned? Yes, this can even include the Windows Mobile based Xperia X1 and X2. What was your impressions of the handset by the time it came to the end of its life? Were you happy enough to buy another Xperia device? Or if your experience was tainted, let us know why and if you’d consider buying another Xperia device in the future. Sound out in the comments below.

  • Zayed Kotayba

    Sony Ericsson Xperia arc

  • Shaik Farooq

Xperia Ray then Xperia SP and now z2

  • Srijan Chawla

My first one was The Amazing Xperia S.
The First real flagship from Sony !!

The device was so beautiful & elegant that Sony could never match such perfection ever again :)

  • Vahid Sanati

    Xperia X8 :D

  • Omar Alvarez

    The Xperia X10

  • Sebastian Rank

    Xperia Play :)

  • Dean Newell

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S. It was so gorgeous, and had an awesome display for the time. It slowed down like a bitch after a week of use due to the heavy skin, problems with ICS, single core and 512MB of RAM. Back then I didn’t know how to flash custom ROMs and almost bricked it in trying to do so. My current phone is an Xperia Z2, I love it very much, my next phone will be the Z5/Z6, whatever is the newest Xperia then.

  • Aurélien Coquart

    Xperia Arc :)

  • Clarence Alvarado

My first Xperia Smartphone was the ever gorgeous and Sexy Xperia Arc, before moving from a list of T68i, K800i, K850i and W250i. It’s been a flaunting device since at that time, 4.3″ display is already huge!

Moving to my current one after two years is Xperia Z1, packing the first ever 20.7 MP. 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor in a phone with 3000 mAh battery. It’s super huge leap from Arc to Z1, from the chipset speed, RAM, camera, display, etc.

Ive never been this happy looking forward from my next Xperia, hopefully jumping the same leap I did from Arc to Z1.

  • Jonathan Bratanata

Xperia V, i came into the smartphone world pretty late hahaha, it still works like a charm, though side by side to my z3 it looks ancient (though it’s design is still awesome, even now)

  • Divith Devaiah

    Xperia Neo v

  • Jim P

Xperia X1 was my first, then I stuck with the Brand.

  • Jerry Berglund

Well my first XPeria was Xperia X10 And I really liked it, despite its imperfections that is kinda had. But it always got better. Sadly Gingerbread came, it wasnt working that good. But now I am sure it was actually my memorycard that was the problem and not the phone. But … Sccchhhh…. dont tell Sony. lol. Because I sent it in for repair several times because of annoying problems with BT, and playing music and all that and got a new Phone in the end. An Xperia arc S. :-)

  • Deki

I used SE phones a lot back then. After that I switched to Nokia XpressMusic, Huawei and then Xperia X10i. After that I got the Xperia S and now I have the Z1.

Great phones! I am not switching to other brands.

  • Saifuddin Adnan

  • ?????? ???????

My first Xperia was the X10, but I sold as soon as I understood that there will no support for their device (no update to Froyo). Since then, Sony has been dead to me, but recently folded and bought an Xperia Z3 dual, and I must say that their new devices are on par with the competition, OS upgrade and specs wise.

  • Emil Oskarsson

Xperia Neo was my first Xperia device that i owned :) Been using Sony Ericsson (and now Sony) phones since 2006 :) First phone from SE was k550i ;)

  • ?????? ???????

Yea.. I remember that there was something like that.. but anyways, I have been a long time fan of Sony-Ericsson (k850 was my dream phone), but X10 ruined for me. With Z3 they brought me back on their ship, after 2 years with Windows Phone.

  • SM

I was a proud owner of the legendary Sony handset w700i since 2006..then after 8 years of the god use, Xperia M was my first Xperia device & I am quite happy with that low-mid range device. Planning to buy a new one anytime sooner

W800i, best non touch phone for me>z ultra, fantastic device but it is only a tablet with phone capabilities, it is a mini tablet, not a phone and sony better make flag phablet ultra and ditch the mini tablet characteristics. they should make the next ultra 5.5-6″, not more then 6″ for sure and give it all the flag features and spec including the latest and greatest camera sensor, led flash, etc.

  • Engin Okumus

My first Xperia was Xperia U, which apparently was my first smartphone too. Worked fine for the initial 2-3 months, but became a piece of shit since then. I still got that phone with me, running on ICS 4.0, does nothing but lag. Currently I rooted the phone, and use it as a guinea pig for testing.

I still can’t get over the fact that I paid almost $300 for this crap. Of course, I was kind of a newbie to tech and specifications, so I didn’t know what was I getting into. A big fuck you to Sony.

Experience wasn’t that great. I’ve avoided Sony for a whole 3 generations before coming back to the Xperia Z Ultra . I was in love with it and still am.

My husband and I have both been faithful to Xperia since the X10. Only my Z1 had any issues (and they were brought on by my own actions), which is why I upgraded sooner than planned to the Z3C.

    My list – Xperia X10 –> Xperia S –> Xperia Z1 –> Xperia Z3C
His list – Xperia arc –> Xperia ZL. He also uses my white X10 in theatrical performances as a prop.

My Xperia S was loaned to two different people after I was done with it and my Z1 is now permanently attached to my television by MHL – almost making it a smart TV.

    It all started with K750i > w850 > W302 > Satio > Hazel J20i > Xperia X10 > Xperia Arc S > Xperia S > Xperia SL > Xperia Z

Each and every phone above was owned by me and only me and not of my family members ( list would be never ending otherwise :P )

The first every K750i was the best phone I could get at that time. No other phone even dared to compete with it. Amazing 2 PM camera and walkman player. That mega bass in headphones was just wow. It totally defined music for me. I also no lifed the tennis game it had in it. The music player in W850 and w302 was also pretty similar.
My second best experience was with Satio which had a damn premium wow feeling to it while holding in my hand. And that amazing 12 MP camera with xenon flash….

I still have all the phones except Satio, xperia x10 (sold), Xperia s ( sold ) and xperia SL ( Stolen).
Presently using Xperia Z and waiting for Z5.

Sony Xperia Z3. I was hoping to get an Xperia device since the Z1 came out, but back then I had a Galaxy S3. S3 died so I bought my Z3.

  • solano89

First phone from the Xperia lineup that I used was the Xperia X10! After that I had the SEX Pro, the Z1 and now I have the Z2! In the mean time in my family entered 2 Xperia X8s, a Xperia mini, Xperia M, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia E4! I’m looking forward to buy the brand new Xperia Z5 (or what the letter is going to be) and a Xperia Z2 Tablet, all this till Christmas! :D

  • Alexx

    Xperia U, than Z and Z2 :3

  • Camilo

However, the first Sony device I had was a Sony Ericsson w595s. I still have it lying around somewhere, but in pieces XD. The charging pins sulphated and I couldn’t charge it anymore, rendering it useless.

  • Brian De Guzman

My first Sony was a Sony Ericsson K750i, I inherited it from my older brother as my phone during my first year college (2009),

As a birthday / Christmas gift for December in 2012, I got the Xperia SL until I graduated and got my first job.

When I started working in 2013, the Honami and Togari (Z1 and Z Ultra) rumors are everything that time, so when they finally released Z1, I bought it! to bad it got stolen some months later (2014), so I waited for the H2 flagship then bought my current phone, Z3 :)

The first phone i owned was the S710A from ATT. And didn’t hesitate to update as soon as i knew my carrier had a SonyEricsson phone. Ever since i have had all the flagships including the windows phones. But in my opinion the Z series really take Sony to another level. Have bought all of the Z series phones and the design and quality are amazing.

After my SE devices I switched to a Xperia X1. Then Xperia X10 for one week, just to realise it was bullshit. Then I was buying other brands until I got a Xperia Z2 and Xperia Ultra. But I’m not satisfied with the devices, I hope the Xperia Z5 compact will be a more complete device.

  • Andrew Erohin

Xperia Sola, MT27i. Nice device, btw, I liked it. Though it’s a pity that ICS firmware was too laggy and official JB was never released for this phone. But before this I got familiar with Sony due to SonyEricson k700i :)

  • mountain

    And my favourite one is…

  • How is the camera on your devices ?

  • Z3 and it is the worst purchase i have ever made Sony failed to deliver a great experience from terrible front camera to average back camera that can only be good when using manual mode to display backlight bleed and red spots when screen is black to time it takes to charge the damn thing and speakers being very quiet to buggy software it is hard for it to justify the price when iPhone 6 and Note 4 were 2800 when Z3 was 2500

  • Ant Morgan

Sony CMD Z5 – does that count?

  • Rangga Anung Anindita

My first xperia device is Xperia X1, got installed android with it (dual boot) and wow that was the begining of android strory …
After that I owned, Xperia X8->X10–>Xperia Arc S –> Xperia Neo –> Xperia S –> Xperia Z –> Xperia Z Ultra (still use it till now)
Im waiting for the “new” flagship until end of this year, otherwise i’ll take “the M5” anyway … :)

  • doministry

X1 was my first Xperia. It was amazing phone in every way. The best design, superb features. I’ve used it for over 1,5 years actually. It was unmatched by this time. P.S. I’ve had also most of the AMAZING PSeries: P800, P910, P990i, P1.
    Than I continued till today: X2, X10, X10 Mini, Arc, S, T, Z, Z2. Waiting for Z5!

  • free baz

    Xperia mini > xperia L > xperia sp > xperia z > xperia z1 > Xperia z2

  • Lio Soriano

xperia play! short-lived but it was still awesome when i open my phone and people would look awed at how it’s both a gaming console and a phone rolled into one.

then i got z, the flagship phone that started it all, then z2. will probably get z5 next.

  • First Xperia device was Xperia Neo V back in 2011 when it got released. Initially before buying i really dint want to change my K790i to Neo V because it was working fine also i dint want to adapt the touch screen smartphones era. But when i finally did, it was a completely different experience. I fall in love with that phone. I kept it for 1.5 years than bought Xperia SP which completed 2 years this month and still going strong.
When i first got my personal phone back in 2005, it was an SE phone (K500i) and used all SE phones till 2011. In future, i dont think i would buy any other brand due to ANY of their silly gimmicks.

  • Mac

When I decided to jump from a feature phone to a smartphone back in 2011 I was like, I don’t understand why I must have this stupid touchscreen to get apps like Spotify and such. Anyway, I looked for a kinda small one and ended up with a Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, coming from a happy experience with my older SE devices. I liked that the neo had camera button and had almost the same specs as the bigger Arc which I thought was way to big. So there I was, very happy with my decision. And after that it was not even thinkable of another brand.

  • Kunal Shukla

    Sony Xperia X8 > SP > ZL > Z @ present.

X8 was below average at that time considering the price I could have chosen better option from other brands and it disappointed me in every aspect. And with the software support ending soon than expected it was a total waste. However I did use it for 2years.

I did went for 3 more xperia devices, but I doubt if I will use another Xperia. Sony is forcing me to go for some other brand. They just won’t listen

    P.S: Before X8 I’ve used T310 and Z550i.

  • Lars Holmgren

  • fried_egg

I had a windows samsung omnia but was “aware” of the X1… when the X10 came out it was clearly the phone for me… so i had the X10 on UK launch day, then the S on UK launch day and my current Z1 again on EE UK launch day… my next phone will be the next flagship launched after next month when my contract is up (I could upgrade now but EE are not selling the 3+ and I dont want an old phone!) The “bond Z5” is likely to be pre-ordered the minute it is announced in Germany… ;)

  • fried_egg

I felt the same with the X10… looked good, felt wow because of its texture but launched against the HTC desire with a “better chip” – however the X10 had the last laugh as Sony continued to upgrade the O/S while Htc did not. Sony made the right “we have learnt” noises with the awesomely sexy “S” but again slightly missed the edge of the curve expected of the flagships… once more the S proved itself a good phone and one Sony maintained…. with the Z & Z1 they made it clear they would be at the edge of the curve… the camera on the Z1 for example… however “being on the edge” has kicked them unfairly with the overheating… they cant win! but they do make great phones.

  • FirdausAraragi

My first Xperia phone was the Sony Xperia arc which I bought in 2012 and I still love the device even today. Unfortunately the pins in Micro-Usb port didn’t work after a year or so. Soon afterwards I went for a LG optimum L3 for a cheap phone and changed to a Sony Xperia M in 2014. I really loved the M as I felt the resemblance between the arc and the m. The screen wasn’t that bad too and performance is smooth even today. In my opinion it is the best optimised phone but the drawback is the storage space it provided. It still works even after many drops even from 1.6m and gave it to my sister. In 2015, I upgraded to the Sony Xperia C3 and my experience wasn’t as pleasant as the Xperia M. The device wasn’t as smooth and the notorious music app that stops. I like the bigger storage space, huge screen and the ips display which a plus over the m. Finally after only 6 months, my father gave me his Z1 when he bought the Z3 and I switched to it immediately. Me and my father are Sony fanboys haha

Xperia Z2 is my first Xperia phone. Have had it for 8 months and still like it even though the camera is real sh!try. Will not upgrade until Sony includes a biometric scanner, wireless charging and IR remote in the same device. And a much better camera/software. I do not think the Z3 and Z4 are worthy upgrades.

  • timothy chan

  • Bimo Garibaldi

My first one was the Xperia Arc S. it was my dad’s phone since 2012 and he decided to gave me in late 2013 to replace my broken BlackBerry 9780. I used the Arc S until February 2015, since it was flawless until it started to lag and my internal memory full, but the camera always amazes me.

When I’m thinking about buying a new phone on a budget to replace the Arc S, I saw my friend’s Xperia ZR and my cousin’s Xperia M2, and decided to play with both of them for several minutes to test the newer Xperia line capabilities. great camera, great audio output, and the simple but gorgeous UI sealed my choice.

The Xperia ZR was awesome, but the Indonesian model has no LTE capability (C5502 model only). The Xperia M2 has LTE but it’s not waterproof. Then Sony came up with something interesting: the Xperia M2 Aqua. a waterproof smartphone on a budget, and it’s got LTE.

So I made the Xperia M2 Aqua my second Xperia smartphone, it’s pretty fast, rarely gets hot, good looking, and waterproof. The only problem I faced is the front cam, but since I’m not a selfie-type, I guess it’s okay.

And now, while patiently wait for the 5.1.1 update, I’m really looking forward for the new Xperia M5. Hopefully next year, I’ll be able to make the M5 my third Xperia smartphone.

  • Doubleyoupee

    Xperia ZL.

The first one had a screen defect but the second one has been absolutely perfect and I can’t ever see myself with any other phone brand. If I have to buy all of my future Xperia devices through other websites like Amazon in the future then so be it because I am definitely a fan for life.

Nice post by XB. I am no longer with Sony (after how they killed the SP) but I may come back to them in the future. I’ve learnt from Sony that only flagships get good support.

    Anyway, my devices…

Xperia X10 mini pro, Xperia X8 (BEST!), Xperia Live with Walkman, Xperia L, Xperia SP.

  • Wouter van Vliet

X10 mini pro, loved it, still miss the slide out keyboard and even still use it occasionally as backup phone. Have had a Go and a Z since and use a Z3 now.

Used a friend’s Sony J70 for a while back in the day. At some point went the route of w880i>w910i>w902>Xperia X10i>Xperia Arc. Went Nexus and Cyanogen after that.

  • Sigurjón Örn Ólason

Still using my xperia z (first version). Charging cover flip o-ring finaly gave up. Few scratches on screen and couple of dust bites within camera lens. Battery holding strong.
Still not sure if I upgrade to the z5. At least I need a proper hardware failure for that, and it does not seem to be happening. But I will definitely recomend xperia device.

  • Aldi Wan Kenobi

I had been using mobile phones for a while….so I was using GSM phone since the early 90’s. I have tried several brands–I’ve been really trying to see what fits me, had a couple of Nokias, one Siemens, a couple of Motorolas, even tried a Philips for a short while …but when I tried Sony (Ericsson)…I never looked back.

    I started with Sony Ericsson W910 > W995 > Xperia Ray > Xperia Acro S > Xperia Z3 Compact

I’m really glad to see Xperia Ray being used in some episodes of Supernatural TV series! I was like…Hey! That’s my phone!

Before those I had a couple SE Walkman phones: the W800i and the W580i (still the best feature phone I’ve used). Back before those I had a Sony CM-B1207 the “Sony Brick” first gen CDMA phone.

Next up will be a Tablet Z3 or Z5 Compact.

  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

I agree X10i experience was horrible with updates. I remember still my friends are laughing at me because I waited almost a year for update to receive.

  • ayub407

My first one was the Xperia X10 back in 2010.

  • ayub407

    Now using the Z3 Dual.

  • DBS

The Z3C is my first Xperia phone. I only joined Sony after Nokia left the market (and because Nokia left, really). At the time I had some options open but as I’ve always valued camera quality above everything else (accustomed as I am to Nokia’s camera quality), Sony was then the only viable option. They had, I thought, the best cameras on Android and, well, a reputation on camera tech that I was expecting to find reflected on their smartphones.
The fact that Ericsson was no longer around also helped my choice (I had an Ericsson T10S once. Worst phone I ever had).

Unfortunately, while Sony’s hardware lives up to my expectations and has met my criteria of quality build (being close to Nokia-quality) the camera was a HUGE disappointment. The software is all over the place, lacks a ton of functionality, the imaging algorithms are terrible…Nokia was (and is) decades ahead of Sony when it comes to mobile imaging. But well, I could live with that. I wasn’t expecting Sony to excel Nokia. But I wasn’t expecting to see them fall so hard behind. When the likes of Apple, Samsung and even LG already have better cameras than Sony, using Sony’s own hardware, that’s it for me.

The Xperia Z5 Compact will have to make a 180º turn on camera quality and surpass all the competition for me to consider buying another Xperia. If my criteria for the Z5C camera is not met (OIS, full manual controls, new algorithms) then the Z3C will be my first and last Xperia.
I will move to LG (which was a close second back then) until the expected return of Nokia.

Xperia miro > Xperia Z > Xperia Z2 is what I’m currently using, waiting to see what the Z5 is like.

  • Jerry Berglund

True. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 got lots of bad reviews. I think it got to bad that it really didnt deserve to be honest. Because the only bad thing with it was that it wasnt the latest in hardware in it. But as a whole it was a good phone. The same with many of the Sony Ericsson phones after that one and Sony 2012 years phones. Non of them was bad or medioker. They were not best, but they were good alround phones and suited peoples needs. But thanks for not using top notch hardware like Apple but for them it kinda didnt do that much because their software was smooth. Apples phone was kinda like Sony phones. No that best hardware (and sometimes still not) but their fanbase is whats doing iPhone popular.

My first Xperia X10 mini still working with gingerbread cyannogenmod, the smallest (android) smartphone in the planet. Now I’m using Xperia Z Ultra, the largest and thinnest (when released) smartphone in the world.
I’m still considering to buy Xperia if it has Y design.

It was an Xperia Mini! Great phone! Still have it as a reserve phone, in case I lose my Z1 Compact.

  • Nabendu

Xperia p was my first smartphone and the first phone from Sony. The bottom bar which eliminated was sexy to say the least and design wise it was one of the most beautiful 4inch devices. That was also the start or transition from the Sony Ericsson to Sony and those phones Xperia s/p/u were the last ones I guess to have that erricson green logo. The only disappointment with the phone was it sported a Novathor chipset which lacked support soon after the chipset company St Ericsson split. Also the small battery was a little bit of a disappointment but not a major factor. 2 years later shifted to the Nexus 4 and though Xperia p was in the dust. Saw the first gen Moto E launch and sold the Xperia p for the same price I got a new Moto E for my mom . Not a bad phone just the camera department xp won hands down. Again 2 years later with Nexus 4 developed touch screen issues and was forced to change and guess what back to Xperia with Xperia Z Ultra. Know this isnt a 2014 or 2015 device but got a good deal around 200 usd dollars for a brand new z ultra which was hard to resist.

  • Brick

I had X10 Mini, Ray, Arc, Xperia S, then I switched to Samsung (huge mistake) with the S4, then got the Z3.

  • Nirmal Mandal

Xperia ray was my first xperia. I was quite satisfied with it. Still using it for my non-smart usages. Then I went for SP. Phone was good but dissatisfied with the fact that although promised, it was not updated to Kitkat. Now I own a Z2. It just rocks.

Only counting Sony Xperia phones: Xperia Z3 Compact.

    Counting other Sony phones as well: T630 -> W810i -> W995 -> … non-Sony Smartphones … -> Xperia Z3 Compact

Before the Xperia Z3 Compact, I had other Symbian and Android smartphones. I kept none of them for longer than, like, 1 year. But finally, the Z3 Compact is perfect for me… I’ve found the smartphone that I might actually keep for a few more years! (Same goes for my Z3 Tablet Compact actually.)

wow and they’re all white! that’s quite a lot of devices, considering the oldest of the batch isn’t even 2 years old!

For me it went like this. X10 mini, x10, S, Z, and then Z2 which is increasingly looking like my last. At least for a while. The LG G5 is looking like my next option!

  • Stefan

My first one was the very little known Xperia Acro S. I think it was the first waterproof Xperia Handset ever, but I’m not 100% sure. It had an absolutely astonishing camera.
But a year later the Xperia ZL stole my attention. I’m still really happy with it.
If the Xperia Z5 (or whatever name it’ll have) will have even better battery stats than the Z3, it will be my new Xperia.

  • Paul M

Years ago I bought a Sony Clié which ran PalmOS. I loved that thing. OK, too old?
I bought my eldest daughter an Xperia play and hacked it to SIM unlock it. I think she still has it.
My Xperia Z Ultra has been great. Been thinking about buying a spare, in case it breaks and also to try lollipop.
I bought my wife an Xperia SP, was disappointed. The specs suggested it should have been much better, but it was laggy. I bricked it trying to root and flash Doomlord’s custom stuff. I didn’t shed a tear. If that had been my first and only experience of a Sony phone, I’d never buy another.

Sony Xperia S > Xperia ZL. Sony forgot the IR blaster that all other major manufacturers included. Not to mentioned the big bezel on the top and bottom. Where is the 2k display and fingerprint sensor at this day and edge? The current latest flagship need a boost in the camera as well.

  • Kovács Péter

from 2013 until 2015 xperia sp, now xperia z3

  • My Fist Xperia was the magical Sony Xperia Sola, then Xperia T, Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and currently my daily driver, Sony Xperia Z2.

  • smileyint

My very first Xperia is S which had a beautiful notification bar but the extra chin is making it tall. Next till now the rather unique looking Xperia ZL. Looks like Sony purposely leave the IR blaster which other manufacturers included nowadays. Majority of Sony flagships are long at the top and bottom which increases the bezel to screen ratio.

Sony had lagged behind technologies such as 2k display and fingerprint sensor. Not to mention the stagnant camera sensor. It is sad seeing Sony following HTC path of losing market share.

I really hope Sony can surprise us with the Z5.

  • I must say this is one lucky family~ =D

I replaced it after 10 months with Acro S because I want bigger screen and also for its functionality. After a year I replaced my Acro with Z.

  • mode893

X10 for me. I remember it had a ‘monster’ 1gHz processor when it first came out. I was extremely happy with its image quality save the puny photolight. Of course, Sony Ericsson crippled the UI until it received the Gingerbread update which was when it finally became usable. My history of mobiles go back to the Ericsson days starting from EH97 :)

It’s unfortunate that people choose gimmicks over useful features. I love the waterproofing, noise canceling and now I could really use wet finger tracking over the hyped force touch. Fingerprint is a step back from facial/eye recognition. They should be on top of the camera and are doing really well with 21mp but are held back by the poor processing of snapdragon. This is why iPhone is still using 8mp, because 21mp would cause huge lag. Not sure why hTc goes with the M series when the Butterfly is a superior design (I’d buy one if available) and LG/Moto hasn’t had one innovation on any of their phones.

My first Xperia was the x10i(stolen 3 years after 2010 my dad’s still works), then I moved onto the Xperia Neo 2011 which I wrote off in a bike accident after a year.

Xperia S in 2012 which still works(bent my car door when accidently in the way when I slammed it).

    Xperia Z in 2013 (I went through 3) 1st one I accidentally stepped on, 2nd waterdamp, 3rd survived all(sold it later to a colleague)

    Z Tablet 2013 cracked screen.

Z1 2013 still works as my second phone.

Z2 2014 I loved it in purple but did not last when I slammed it when closing my car’s bonnet one morning.

Z3 2014 still my main phone

Z2 2015 Tablet still current tablet

Z3 compact 2015 too chunky so now my wife uses it

My very first Sony Ericsson was a T630i which lasted me 5 years.

  • smileyint

I agree waterproofing is great but Sony can built a winner with removable battery and lockable back cover like Moto Defy that i used before i went for Sony. That removes any filmy flaps which may come loose over time.

Why do they remove the useful magnetic connector and not add data sync to it? It is so easy to connect than any micro usb even type c, although my Xperia ZL do not have it.

Retina scan have not taken off yet but i don’t mind if Sony is ahead in that department and is also subjected to OIS for stable scan. I do not mind the lag if Sony had a 42MP camera as the camera is part of the reason why i bought the Xperia ZL back then (i.e. first 13MP other then Z). It is the resultant picture quality that counts to me.

Other manufacturers are catching up on the MP game i.e 16MP with some even using Sony optics. I just remember the badly processed camera capture. I would rather LG Raw unprocessed image with comprehensive manual settings. You know where i have been sway. :)

My family uses Xperia mobile(probably because I bought for them).
Unfortunately I sold old ones when new model arrived.
    Thus no group photos.

The family roots on Xperia Neo, which is the first device shipping with Android 2.3 besides Nexus S. I was initially looking for a Xperia Play but it was so hard to find one on stock back then.

Then Xperia Mini Pro, which is a fantastic small phone with QWERTY keyboard. Followed by Xperia Live with Walkman with dedicate music button.

Dual-core begins with Xperia P that still beats any Samsung phone with its aluminum crafted body.

Then mighty Xperia Z comes. Man, that’s a revolution to me. Never thought a water-proof phone could that slim and elegant. Then Xperia C replaces the old Live with Walkman. Xperia P was succeed by Z1 Compact.

Later, Z1, M4 Aqua and Z3 joined the family. Gone the MTK based Xperia C.

Also, they have a bigger sibling Z4 Tablet. :D

SE K610i first Sony…very good camera price battery and all. Very satisfied. Works also now.
Xperia U – disappointed about the camera. Works also now.
Z3 Compact – very good one. One of the best mobile even though the price is premium. Aside from overheating a little lag in opening apps and other small cons has a very good camera and effects (the video recording sound is a little lower than normal though) and battery life time with stamina mode. Didn’t check the waterproof :D Also the design the look are as they should be for a mobile. But that’s subjective stuff. I intend to keep it for at least 3-4 years.

Goodness, I’ve had so many Sony Ericsson phones. So many. However, my first “experience” with Sony was the Xperia S. White. I still have it in my desk. Currently on my second Sony: the Xperia Z2. Beautiful thing. White, again. Another amazing phone. I love everything about it. I wish I had a magnetic charger…but it came with the MDR headset so I can’t complain. Two of my friends got the Z2 right after me as well, no MDR. I’ll probably upgrade a couple of generations down the line, after the chip calms down.

RAW and manual would be great but wouldn’t really increase sales. I still think with how hot (even older) snapdragon gets that the issue with mp’s and post possessing that the problem is with snapdragon and not so much Sony. I love the magnetic connector and was contemplating the dock as a car mount, usb is too fragile and has been the death of most of my previous phones, still have my Z1 thanks to the magnetic charger!

  • smileyint

The good news is snapdragon 820 is in the horizon and hopefully is more power efficient thus generating less heat and improve performance. In the past, i even got the ZL usb stucked to a Philips speaker. Gosh, it clipped on so tightly that the sales rep could only pull apart with brute force. I thought there goes my usb port, but surprisingly it survive. Too bad with usb waterproofing, Sony is doing away with the magnetic connector.

  • Bhavya Jain

My first Xperia device is sony xperia z1. Even though most of the users are happy with bit i’m the one who is not happy with it at all.

The best of sony in a smartphone but actually

“The best of sony is not even average when compared to other smartphones”

    Reason being-
The display is faulty.I have used my sony xperia z1 but after using it for about 2
years. It is now dead.Even the warranty has also lapsed so i can’t do anything at all.I can go to xperia service center. But they say the entire repair will take more than 15 days and have to ship the device to Chandigarh or New Delhi,India and will cost >Rs.20,000 but the new device comes at Rs.17,000.

Another reason being a very soft screen fitted in a mobile. You have protect it as if its your own baby. All it takes a little bump and there goes the screen.I have a nokia x6 and if you drop it from a second floor, there is not even a single scratch on its screen. In xperia z1 even a little bit of pressure or when you put it in a pocket. It breaks all anything.Even a drinking water glass is tougher than its screen.

Even the camera is little bit faulty. In night time, there is pixels breakage if you zoom your pictures. You have to use it in manual mode,to get a decent picture.

When it comes down to OS,if you download it from your phone and have a bad
internet connection, then the package is not properly. The only solution
is too download it using pc companion. Then there is only slight
improvement in it.Even the notification bar in v5.0 was faulty.Sometimes
it was working other times it will not respond at all.

When to connect it to a sound system there is no bass at all. When other
devices from other companies they give much bass as compared to this
    device,xperia z1.

These are the reasons why sony in mobile segment is not performing at a large scale in India.

  • Hangwire

My first Xperia: X10 mini pro. Later Xperia arc, Xperia S, Xperia SP and now Xperia Z5 Compact.
I used also a lot of Sony Ericsson feature phones. And I have also a old Sony-phone: CMD-CD5.
