  • What about Z1 series?

  • Fadi Obaya

What the f and fuck? What the hell is going on? Wasn’t the Z1, Z1C and Z ultra supposed to get it first??

  • Michael

Exactly.. 5.0 has been running totally crap on my z1
Getting tired of Sony, thinking about moving to Nexus

  • Lukáš Pávl

It seems that some SONY employees are on drugs lately… Z series before Z1 series? Seriously?

what about m2 dual users..atleast not even get 5.0 lollipop itself, because they are already use lollipop version atleast u should hava aminimum commonsence..ahe the fuck wrong with u guys,,,lenovo6000 and lenovo600plus chinies company mobiles launch after launching m2dual,,but they are already getting 5.0 lollipop update,,,fuck with sony

  • laci_csk

    Now everybody is happy.

  • like the news said some time ago, they are certifying the update, so we should receive it soon… let’s hope :)

  • Clarence Alvarado

I think everyone is ranting why does the older Z series came first for the 51 update. Just to let you know, that just means the software update team of the Xperia Z series (Fusion3 platform) already finished polishing every bugs and software issues to address for the update, then the Z1 series (Rhine platform) still not yet done with the bug-fixing jobs needed.

Z1 user here. High hopes for 5.1 update too.

  • Lajos Márk Kovács

  • Here’s hoping that 5.1 resolves the battery crash issue many people with the Z1 (myself included) have had since May. Nearly a third of a year with my phone essentially on life support in the form of a backup battery because 5.0 doesn’t run properly.

  • Sad to those who owns E3, T3, M2, smh

  • Rucsko Gergely

I do not see Z1 in the list of Phones! Did you leave it out? Or I have to wait more longer??
    Xperiablog please answer:)

  • Jürgen Kimmel

And what about Xperia ZR 5502? Will it come too? There stands only 5503 why?

  • Looks like Z1, Z1 compact and Z ultra completely forgot…

  • Mustafizur Rahman

what the fuck?? No update for E3 yet.. Fuck you sony employees

  • supercow

At least Z1 users know they will get 5.1.1. Z3+ users do not have any visibility about 5.1.1 upgrade…
this 5.1.1 upgrade is indeed a mess !

  • P9

    parents of Z series.
hope we will get 6.0 too, Sony.

  • Ritch

guys i have a Z1 and had major battery drain with 5.0.2, did a factory reset and voila battery drain GONE.. it’s worth to try, no 5.1.1 yet in the Netherlands

  • nick sweden

Better late than ever I think :-P grats to get before z1 and z ultra serie ;-)

  • Jaspreet Brar

Certification means hope and nothing means firmware. Meaningless fuck. Fuck u sony. Sony z1c will be my first and last sony device.

  • tzortziskon
  • Chaturanaga Manchanayake

    Xperia Z users right now

  • Felipe Orellana

Nothing yet for Xperia ZL C6502

  • nick sweden

I talk with my fellow who works with manufacturer he Said maybe z3+ is great that they wait with 5.1.1 instead 6.0

  • Hamid Jafari

sony Z Ultra must update first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    release update for z u c6833

  • Orion X

Will the update land on C5502? since it’s on the C5503, I’m genuinely curious

  • RB

Xperia Z4 Tablet (LTE SGP771) – server down! possibly 5.1.1 uploading….. fingers crossed!

  • masi0

move to samsung, they much appreciate cranky customers :)

  • bustedemotions96

Android 5.0 was a pathetic on my nexus 7 as well.

  • Jeremmy Palacios

    And Z4 u.u

  • Shravan SP

    Thank you Sony!
And other people complaining about the z1 series, you’ll get.. Don’t worry..
And ppl using mid and low end xperias! You’re update cycle is for only one major update.. Atleast sony gives one. Think of HtC and their 5xx, 6xx,, 7xx and 8xx series and Samsung’s zoom, grand, mega, core, star, etc.. They also update only their one and s/note series respectively!
Want more updates?? Get a high end xperia/one/s/note..

  • Alvin

Now lets start the rage about marshmallow. First things first….

  • Alvin

Be patient. Its better late than never and better late than get it early with buggy and s***ty results as what they did with my z3. It has been sent to service centre for 2 times, all of those problem i encountered are when the phone is running 5.1.1, the problem is the same “android is starting, optimising apps xxx of xxx” bug that would go off even after finished loading, it lags, then the screen goes blank, and it keeps dping the same thing over and over again.

I have to admit, they had the greatest hardware, but almost s*** software

And its also you have to be grateful because not all sony or android devices are getting 5.1.1 :)

  • Alvin

Move to chinese manufacturers, seriously… they made good things now

  • allan

And still nothing for Z2 in nordic region

  • Isaac lim

what’s the wrong with you Sony?!
U disappoint me first time ever with no update yet on Z1.
U are making all the Z1 users jump !!

  • raju

    Change log please

  • Mac

Well this is what I’m facing with 5.0.2 on my Z1C. Hopefully it is solved when I get 5.1.1. Also I did a clean install like last week and after that my bluetooth keeps turning on all the time saying my smartband is not connected, I’m like no sh!t, its back home fool.

  • haxona

The latest 5.0.2 update on Z3+ is like heaven(well except for the mobile data bug which is an Android problem) and is working beautifully here. So I can wait until Android M

  • Alvin

Yup, bugs are everywhere, and it is always z small number of bugs, but those small numbers have big impact on how thr phone will behave. And it sucks.

  • Alvin

Yup i think so, and dont forget z3+ mate, that is the phone we should’ve never forget for the rest of our lives :D

  • Alvin

Well they released aosp preview for xperia l and…….. I’M STUCK ON 4.2.2

  • insyt

Is the original/early One, Note and Galaxy S devices still getting updates or are they stuck on ancient versions? Xperia Z, Motorola or Nexus if you want constant updates.

  • Nawi

    Make. Believe!

  • mehgusta

Ouch. OTA update is the only problem in Sony, their phones are good, fast and durable. I hope that they will still release M for M2. I think after 1-2 years, I should buy another one for the updated version of android in the future.

  • Prateek Bhanushali

lte version didn’t come in india, but any one can import it. only hspa+ version is out in india. only z1c at that time was 4g ready. you can check it in your service menu for more detail.

  • mukul verma

  • zoltan1szultan

  • Sadman Khan

Z3+ users didn’t get it because it may get some stuff from the newly announced z5 series. It’s like that time. The Z3 series was announced and Z1 series got 4.4.4 before Z2 series. The z2 series got it later but got a few features from the z3 series

  • Flank Anker

  • HAWX

CAN somebody pleaae comfirm does this update fix cell standby bug which has been fcking our devices for months? I’m super frustrated for super CPU usage fast battery drain like many, and I’m not thinking to choose Sony because of my overall software experience and Sony’s careless behaviour on official Sony forum.

  • akzidenz

  • Nayib

    Yeah, what are those “platforms”?

  • Nayib

Calm down x’D Be sure to not kill someone who gets on your way

  • Killian Khoo

this is part of lollipop bug ~

  • Nayib

Don’t be so mad, and understand those are low and mid end phones. They won’t get 5.1, but might get 6.0

  • I’ve done two factory resets and countless soft resets to fix this issue and it’s done nothing for me :( I’ve had major battery drain for four months now…I don’t even care about having an up to date phone, I just want one that works without being on a backup battery. Having to wait a third of a year for that is completely unacceptable, especially when I’m having to pay a phone bill for a device that I can barely use.

Those platforms comprises the SoC and the boards used for each set of phones:

Fusion3 platform is the group of Xperia phones that uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC (Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z)

Rhine platform for those using Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC (Xperia Z Ultra, Z1, Z1 Compact)

Shinano platform for those using Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC (Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact)

Yukon platform for those using Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (Xperia T2 Ultra, M2, M2 Aqua, C3, E3).

Kanuti platform for those using Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC (Xperia M4 Aqua)

Kitakami platform for those using Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC (Xperia Z3+, Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium)

Notice when there’s a new Android update or upgrade release for Xperia, it is usually released per platform for the devs to easily give us the software update we need.

Z1 and Z1 Compact already have Android 5.1.1 but it’s on wait for approval by TELSTRA, only after TELSTRA approves it, that all Z1 and Z1 Compacts will finally receive the update to Android L 5.1.1.

  • Damien

I’m in doubt here… Does any one knows if Xperia C3 already received 5.1.1? Because on Sony’s websites it remains in 5.0.2 and the phone isn’t listed as their product anymore, the same thing with C3 certify, it won’t show up, it’s like they erased the phone from earth.
I’m just curious because it was supposed receive the update along side with T2 Ultra.

I’m a M2 user, crossing fingers for my update in at least two weeks!

  • Damien

Z1 and Z1 Compact are still waiting approval of TELSTRA so they can release the major update.

  • Damien

Z1 and Z1 Compact are still waiting on TELSTRA approval. The update was released but blocked my approval, the update will only roll out after the approval.

  • HAWX

No I didn’t. But I saw many people tried and their problem still persist. There is no possible solution for many ZL – ZR – Z’s like mine. I learned about some other nexus users having similar issues like me, so the problem is Lollipop related. But even so Sony shouldn’t spread this update world wide after complaints they had from selected region. They are careless and they want us to buy new Z, but how should I know they will turn any Z smparthone to rubish by giving bad updated after 2 years?
htc would way better choice in my opinion especailly in terms of updates. They give less updates, but their updates are solid and well tested each of their flagship unlike Sony.

Xperia M2 has the hardware for it but… I don’t see Sony updating M2 series to Android 6.0. They will of course, release the binaries of it for developers but not much than that. Android 5.1 L is the end of the line for Z original series, C3, T2 and M2.

  • Srinivasan Shanmugam

very nice, some issues for your improvements first WIFI Automatically on and search, but suddenly too heat, some time screen totally blank, battery quickly down,my observation 3G network area battery down percentage normal, but outer city 2G and 3G area (some time H+ or ,E,) battery down percentage very fast and too heat,my place MADURAI,TAMILNADU, INDIA,

  • Saumil Dighe

Fully charge your phone, then restart it, its some problem with cell radio, so every time you use mobile data, restart your phone or the cell standby will eat your battery. Works fine with me…. Every time i use mobile data, i restart it after switching off mobile data

Received the OTA in Pakistan (Generic MEA). Update is super smooth than 5.0.2. I noticed brightness goes lower than on 5.0.2 which was too bright to use in lowlight. I recommend upgrading for everyone. WiFi icon now shows if the WiFi has Internet connection and many usual features.

Check again with new Stagefright detector. If Google Nexus is not fixed completely yet, so I doubt Z2,Z3 is.

  • Krzysztof Kajdasz

Checked with Zimperium’s detector freshly downloaded off Google Play.
All good on Z3+ including CVE-2015-3864 which doesn’t seem to be fixed on Nexuses.

  • Void String

Just received the Notification of 5.1.1 Update. Xperia Z c6603 (India)!!!

  • Jacky

Updated it with C5502 yesterday. One thing I noticed it my phone now has about 500MB more available space, with the same amount of apps installed. Everything else seemed to be improved to me, especially the wifi/bluetooth device list inside notification center

  • Gaurang Zalariya

  • czerikcum

Can confirm that Xperia ZR C5003 Nordic version (at least for me) got the update today! :)

  • rubinaish

Received it on Thursday, Germany, C6603.
Sony, are you serious?! Symbols in the status bar totally out of order, and the UI looks more and more Google-ish, which I don’t like.

  • Devon Fredericks

Every I update to Lollipop I lose cell service. Any ideas why?

  • HAWX

Dowload digital clocl Xperia. You have lots of customization, you can select any colour :)

  • Kristo

I don’t see what’s wrong with it. Mine are in the same order (on 5.0) and what makes it more “Google-ish”?

  • Kristo

my nokia 3310 doesn’t have Android N yet, what the hell Sony??

  • Kristo

Has any Nordic Xperia Z users got the update yet? I’m still waiting…

  • Kok

this update has worse RAM management than the previous version (android 5.0)
before that I used to have around 800MB free RAM

  • Joonas Hiltunen

Sorry for OT but I really need help. My z1 won’t work anymore and I was planning to buy z3+. Is it still overheating?

  • mail

Cell standby consuming about 70% of the batter…do everyone have the same problem….

  • mail

Everyone lost the clock wideget on xperia or only me having the problem

  • renderizer01

Probably slightly OT: I’m using Hola Launcher on my Xperia Z tablet (SGP321). After updating to Android 5.1.1 yesterday the options button in lower right corner (yes, three vertically aligned dots) has mysteriously disappeared from my startscreen. Has anybody else xperienced this? I can no longer access Hola settings. There seem to be no comments yet on Hola’s Play Store page, so I’m wondering if this is only my problem…

  • renderizer01

Forgot to add that I can of course still access the settings by swiping but the sudden absence of the lower right button still confuses me a bit….

  • Andrew Erohin

Guys, what about the ringtone volume? Many people complain that it was less loud in 5.0, comparing to 4.4. Anything changed in 5.1 about that?

  • aiamkesz

With me, it’s as good as before maybe better. Xperia Z!

  • czerikcum

I feel the battery drains more in 5.1.1 compared to 5.0.2. Like, in 9 hours, my battery has been reduced by over 30% (from 100% to 65%), and I barely used it. It should be said that I use ZR, and it’s not one of the newest phones, but after using the same phone for 2 years, you notice even the smallest changes. I checked up the cell-standby issue that some people are experiencing, but I don’t have that issue.

By the way, after updating to 5.1.1 I got more internal space available, and more ram available. For a guy that’s stuck with a 4gb of storage, it means a lot to me. (Yes, I do use a SD-card). Anyways, thanks, Sony. :)

  • JayjayHanj

i wish to flash back to 5.0.2..who can teach me =(

  • JayjayHanj

what is the different between Generic and customized firmware?

  • Svend Erik Baarsby

Update is now available for Telenor in Denmark. I have just installed it. No issues observed so far. I am very anxious to see if battery life is better than 5.0.2.

  • HAWX

Did you have the overheatibg and super bad battery lfie issue on 5.0.2? And is it fixed ( If you had)?

  • Svend Erik Baarsby

I didn’t have any overheating issue in 5.0.2, but battery life was terrible just after installation. It improved somewhat after a re-installation (repair in PCC). It seems that 5.1.1 is not consuming much battery, but I will have to wait until tomorrow before I can pass a verdict.

  • Kok

Does anyone realize that the charging time estimation thing is no longer on the lockscreen after this update?

  • Ujjobbágy Attila

    My phone is draining too.
The most battery drainer is the Android Operating System, with the black android icon?

  • Mihails Neronovs

yes, no more information about remaining charging time!

  • czerikcum

I was just checking, and actually the celle-standby was using 60%! :O
The black android (android operative system) was using 30%. Quite a lot both of them!

  • HAWX

Have you installed the update on Z? How did you find the update? Does it stutter or have some charging issue?

  • Robin

Also charging faster than before :)

  • Bowito Cuna

Marshmallow for SP? U r dreaming, wake up!

  • Ishan Gautam

I need help! I downloaded the update and when i install it, it switches off and comes to that android loading screen and suddenly turns on and says it couldn’t update.

  • Robin

You maybe deleted some pre installed apps from rom.that’s why you can’t complete your software update need to update your phone through pc companion.

  • Ishan Gautam

Oh okay! But I tried to do that with pc companion as well but it says there’s sth missing on your computer but doesn’t tell me exactly whats missing. :/

  • Robin

I also don’t know about that problem.try’s easy.

  • Vitalis felix

Can someone Help, during the process of updating from android 4.4 to 5.0 to 5.1 on my Xperia Z, i remember seeing a notification telling me how long it would take for the battery to get fully charged while charging my phone. however, i seem to have lost that functionality and i don’t have it in 5.1.1 ….is there anyway i can get it back? and which android version was it under?

  • Bishal MahaRjan

Will Marshmallow (android 6.0) will be available for xperia z devices ??

  • Srinivasan Shanmugam

first factory reset then don’t connect GPRS AND WIFI mainly don’t update google play store and ply service, then check now very quickly charged and battery consumption very very LOW, so battery work loge time approximately 10 to 15 hrs,

  • Vitalis felix

    Not what i meant,

But looks like the “Time left till full charge was removed in 5.1.1”

  • Faixy Khan
