Audio Recorder 2.00.03_3Sony Mobile’s official Audio Recorder application has been updated to build number 2.00.03, which gives the app a new paint job with an update to Material Design. Whilst Sony may be a bit late in refreshing the design of the app, it is one of the cleanest designs we’ve seen from Sony so far. In addition to the design change, the app now supports Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The latest version is available in the Google Play Store right now or you can download the APK below.

  • Alvin

For the first time, i like this material design update than the old one

  • Mahesh

Still no support for SW 3! You are the maker of SW 3 and your app doesn’t support it.

  • iia3ezu

Before Material Design, the app had four options:

    1) Superior music (lossless)
    2) Superior music (compressed)
    3) Standard music / superior speech
    4) Basic music / standard speech

Medium can be used for music too, you know. And why omit the word ‘lossless’ from Superior. Lossless > 320kbps. Hi fidelity is ambiguous.

My opinion is that lossless should be a category of its own, maybe higher than superior. Outputs to wav, not mp3 or ogg (compressed audio).

  • Looks great. Sony’s doing work!

Another audio recorder app by Sony comes preinstalled in Z3 firmware. Which one is better ?

  • theskig

    Really?? It works with SW2!

  • dragonsneeze

I don’t know which one you refer to, it could be the same one but non-material design. This app is pretty good, it sounds nicely clean and natural.

  • Serdar Aytamaner

I had looked at the Audio Recorder app in Play Store long before this material design update and it was a different app than the one that came preinstalled in my Z3. I’ve attached a screen capture of it.

I don’t know this one, give a try to the app mentioned in the article it is only 6 mb. I think It was more of a companion to the STM10 external mic but it’s good on its own.

I remember having the same one.

  • Mahesh

Yeah! But doesn’t support SW3. Developers are too lazy or you may say callous to make the changes

  • Oronzo

The “binaural” recording option has disappeared…..
