in Applications

Xperia Weather appSony Mobile has pushed its Xperia Weather application into the Google Play Store. The app was previously only available to those in the beta test. The version in the Play Store (build number 1.1.A.0.6) is the same as the version released at the start of the year that we reported on here. If you want to download the app in the Play Store click here.

Update: Looks like Sony has pulled the Weather app for now (along with the Calendar app we reported on earlier).

Update 2: The app is now live again in the Google Play Store.

Sony Weather app features

– Shows wind, humidity, high and low temperature and wind information for your current location
– Shows you the perceived temperature
– Easily set up and swipe between different locations
– Simple to use widget – Multiple weather locations – Celsius & Fahrenheit

  • Play Store link is not available… probably the app is not yet available in my country… :(

Great to see a dedicated weather application, not to mention this will probably start shipping on future devices. I personally don’t like using any of the trash in the app store (with the exception of Yahoo), so this is a welcome addition.

Further, I like the direction that Sony is taking with many of the built-in apps: divorcing many of the system applications from the core OS. Updates can come often, and features can be added on the fly.

Probably not available for Kit Kat.

Opt in for beta test here before going on to the play store:

  • iia3ezu

This better not be pre-installed (and can’t be removed without rooting) on future devices

  • SM

I think this is a A5 only app.

  • SM

    both link are not found??

  • Deki

Can’t wait to install the new update! I like the new look!

  • Matt

It’s the right way to do.

Maybe I can be considered a nerd for liking a small update trough playstore

App is good…. Widget sucks…. Still prefer the widget from before.

  • Dioq8i

  • Matt

  • humza

Hah… you say that all Play Store weather apps are trash, and proceed to mention Yahoo’s weather app as being good. Hilarious.

I’ll personally stick with Weather Timeline, which is objectively (yes, I’ll go that far) the best one to date.

Yes, Sonys move to put the apps in the app store AND offer public betas is very good. I use the Lifelog beta for a few months now and it is just great to see how the app evolves with user feedback.

I’ve tried the app with the apk you shared in the last post. I love the design! It is really awesome! I uninstalled and will wait for official update or something else.

    This is awesome!

    And not available again.

  • There are many weather apps available in the market to alert the users about sudden changes in weather but so far the accurate app, i have seen is Weather Mate. It has animated satellite and radar maps and NWS radio .
