in Xperia X series

Xperia X PerformanceWhen the Sony Xperia X series was initially announced, UK and German readers were annoyed to hear that the company had no plans to launch the Xperia X Performance into those territories. However, last month we received word that Sony might release the Xperia X Performance in the UK in limited quantities.

UK retailer Clove has now confirmed that the Xperia X Performance will head to the UK through select partners. Clove plans to stock the handset for £549 from mid-July 2016. Clove also offer worldwide delivery.

Thanks Max!

    good

So how does THIS stack up against the Z5? The last article compared the regular X…

  • LiterofCola

Looks like I’ll be using Clove to get my Sony XP here to the US. Screw the US versions.

  • information on Clove UK for X performance is INCORRECT.
The specs say that Front camera is 3MP & the phone is not water proof…
so either they dont know what they are selling or making a fool out of others ….
Damn..even i was so excited to read that…..

  • TheSith LordViridis

Nice day to announce this…. 14 days after X release…oh wait, end of cancellation period.

They are anticipating poor sales so they need to introduce it to more markets or else they will be stuck with huge inventory.

    Liter,

Hey………if you live in the U.S. You don’t need Clove. They’re not even shipping out the XPs until July like everyone else.

I pre-ordered my Sony Xperia X Performance from Expansys’ U.S. site, here: http://www.expansys-usa.com/s.aspx?search=Sony%20Xperia%20X%20Performance (confirmed already that it’s the INTERNATIONAL single-sim version). They have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (scroll down to the bottom of that page for proof), and I know someone personally who’s ordered from them many times with no issues. You can e-mail their customer service team and they always respond within 1-2 days max (usually under 24 hours).

They posted the pre-order XP pages in mid-May, and I was told that when a product is posted it usually means 1-2 mos or less before it’s available, which fits Sony’s announced release date of early July.

Hope all is well with you.

    Tracer,

This professional comparison pits the X (which has the same screen and camera as the X Perf, so same results with either X phone) against the Z5. Watch it all, esp the last half. I’m going X Perf! lol

That’s mainly because of the bad software (touchwiz) on Galaxy s7. Samsung still can’t make a good lightweight UI after all these years…

  • Matt

duh :P xperias has been doing this for years . . except on the camera departement.

  • marcyff2

did we watch the same video? They were both very balanced in terms of benefit:
    -Design (draw, subjective) ,
    – S7 Processor and Ram ,audio, low light pictures and videos
    – X daylight camera and front camera, UI X, feel x.

  • Alvin

Ridiculous pricing for an on-par-with-s7 specs. S7 is even cheaper than this…

But yeah, I’m still excited about this phone.

  • mUSICA

lets see if the xp suprise us

  • InFlames03

You do know that the launch price of the S7 was no better right?

Also, importing the X Performance from clove to the US is also cheaper than the XP’s price in the US ($700) and clove sells the device for $670 including international shipping to the US.

  • InFlames03

That’s just the X, now imagine the X Performance.

  • InFlames03

I have an HTC 10 and half my RAM is unused.

  • InFlames03

Yep, I used them for getting my Z5. They even got me a 2 year warranty (thanks based EU warranty policies).

    Hmmmmmm – dilemmas!

I was hoping / holding out to see if the Xperia X performance would get a a proper launch/seller in the UK – but to be honest I think I have now seen my next phone.

Where Sony have ditched the Z line – Moto have just launched a there own new Z line – taking up the baton should we say.

Sorry Sony after many years of faithful ownership I think its time for something new and more innovative. For those that haven’t seen it – pop over to here:

  • azzido

S7 has bigger OLED screen, 4GB of Ram and 4K recording while still being cheaper ;)

  • azzido

But s7 launched half a year ago, you cannot be so late to the party, offering inferior device and selling for higher price… Like what had some price some time ago cannot have the same so much later especially if it is worse than competition.

  • skrug

You call 3 month half a year?

Looks like a nice device. Motorola is pretty good I guess, I bought a moto g 3rd Gen (1gb ram version) and it’s surprisingly good for 130€. The bulging camera is almost a deal breaker though. I’m pretty happy with my Z3, so I’m not replacing it at least for another year, but I’m keeping my eyes on Motorola and Huawei, they seem to offer the best bang for your bucks.

  • ShillWatch

    Cloverpriced as usual.

I hope Sony will release a bigger version of X Performance

I want 5.5 inch screen with thin bezels

It doesn’t matter. Right now Xperia X has to compete with S7 and HTC 10. It has no chance because it’s a midranger not a flagship.

  • May Czos

This guy is chatting shit saying that X’s display provides natural colors while it’s a very poorly calibrated panel (unike S7), especially bluish whites.

  • May Czos

Samsung makes very functional and customizable UI, I’ll take that any day over stock Android.

  • May Czos

S7 won in daylight camera, battery and UI.

  • Pingback: Sony Xperia X Performance enters the shelves | tech-ManiaK.com()

  • Emil Oskarsson

Sonys UI is very functional as well but more stock like in the appearance with a few goodies here and there that are actually something you will use on a daily basis. Touchwiz is filled with way to many functions that are totally unnecessary and it is kinds messy compared to others UI out there :p That’s my opinion atleast

  • LiterofCola

    lol Moto is done

  • azzido

considering the time it is available in my region + the time Xperia X, especially poorformance mid ranger Yes, it will be about half a year. Even low end X is not available in stocks yet… So it will be almost 6months for X low end, and 6 months or more for X poorf mid-ranger.

  • azzido

OMG X stutters when scrolling the web content and you can see even on this video fps drops in game, it is definitely worse than S7 for games, not a device for players. Worse (smaller) battery confirmed. Camera worse than Z5 (saw it in different reviews) + this plastic feeling is a NO GO.

+ I wonder why he was not comparing the Black color against S7 :D

  • azzido

The thing is Sony UI is became too stock…
But it may be due to cutting the costs in software department approach, no money for better UI, stock is cheaper as most things you are getting from Google. See what happened with stamina, was delayed due to lack of budget for devs / QA and after long time it was implemented partially as a denture.

  • azzido

I would like to see Black comparison for these screens :D
Like testing the low light pics for cameras, is the same for display, shows how much it is worth.

  • azzido

S7 won also for Display and premium materials used (X is totally plastic, for sure entire frame is plastic now = totally plastic feeling)

  • azzido

OMG this crappy shiny border arround the back camera HUMP in X looks like a toy…

Sony Mobile, why the premium feeling of Xperia devices vapoured out?
    Did you fire your designers?

    :( :( :(

  • azzido

Sorry but no, 5.5 inch display size is nice improvement over X series, but battery should be min. 4000mAh for this size. There is a huge horrible camera hump that looks like will be scratching easily and looks very bad (wonder how the pics quality will be) and do not see dedicated camera button.

  • RockStar2005

    azzido,

I think it looks fine. And I like that at least on the Xperia X Performance (not regular X) they’ve added a brushed aluminum with a hairline finish on the backside. Looks very classy to me! lol They can always bring the glass back to the body in the future too, but nothing wrong with trying out something new.

  • Emil Oskarsson

What happened with the stamina mode is that they had to find a way to get it to work with doze from
Google since you cannot inactive that similar function in Android marshmallow :p

  • May Czos

Sony’s UI is functional? There are miniapps? Where’s multiwindow?

  • roeshak

I can’t think of any area where the xp beats the s7. It’s on par in some respects but much behind in others most notably the camera which is just the same old 2014 standard.

  • roeshak

You believe that pile of nonsense then you’ll believe anything. I mean literally anything. Xperia x is in a much lower category. Middling specs and same old tired 2014 standard camera. Please!!!!!
