Xperia X Performance USA pre-order

Thanks Adolfo!

  • LiterofCola

Better off buying an international version.. which are already in stock and shipping

  • Raj Singh

Baffling. Why would anyone buy the American version with the fingerprint scanner disabled?!

  • Alvin

    699?? One word: LOL

At least they included 128GB SanDisk with it. But still, no. And there’s no fingerprint scanner, then has plastic frame? Again, LOL.. (and I’m angry as/when typing this)

  • coach

Kinda off topic but the X Perfomance is up for pre-orders on Sony’s german webstore

  • DarkMaster

SanDisk cheap trash !? seriously f#ck those retailers either give us microSD from Sony or Samsung or don’t give us any at all !

  • Jorgie Llanos

The BestBuy site mentions the X Performance has a fingerprint sensor to “unlock your phone.” Typo???

  • iia3ezu

Sony microSD is quite crap FYI.

Also, the major manufacturers of SD cards and flash memory are: Samsung, Hynix, Lexar-Micron, SanDisk , Kingston and Toshiba. Other brands simply rebranded the products from these factories.

  • iia3ezu

Unless Sony has changed its mind regarding the US market, it’s blatant false advertising.

  • Sola Hoi

My first Sony micro SD card stopped working after 2 months… I don’t want to bother with warranty stuff and buy myself another Sony. The new one is a little better, it’s still working but often unreadable or unrecognized by my computer. My other cards (Kingston, Panasonic and Samsung) have no such problems.

  • Mak Cau Theng

Frame should be metal? How the phones get signal?

  • Mak Cau Theng

Frame should be metal? How is the phone get signal?
    Logical please.

  • Bashar Shehab

While the xp is still a little bit overpriced, the XA and XAU prices are quite reasonable..

  • DarkMaster

FYI Samsung and Sony are the best wide spread manufacturers of MicroSD memory cards . imo opinion Samsung is the better but Sony isn’t far behind … the other brands you mentioned are quite good but no widely available except SanDisk which is utter junk.

  • Hideg Jen? Péter

I agree, my Samsung pro 45mb/s 32gb uhs, still working 2 years. (doesn’t matter pro and evo).
I think I’l buying sony or samsung for 128gb. (i never to buy sandisk crap again.)

  • DarkMaster

exactly my friend ! whats the point having cheaper memory that is going to fail unexpectedly and you end up loosing all data ? my advice is get the Samsung or Sony , but be aware there is a lot copied and fake replicas around .

  • ymytbb .

I’m waiting for Amazon to start taking pre-order, hopefully with microSD. This time I’ll go for XA because I like the way it looks. sleek

  • Yuen Lui

There is no such ‘best screen size’ for a phone. There is only your own preference. 5 inch isn’t bad, though I would like a phone with 4.5-4.7 inch screen.

  • Sola Hoi

I bought my Sony cards from Bestbuy and use them on my Sony phones, apparently I’m not a lunatic troll but some of you are surely misinformed.

  • Marilynsmoore3
  • EQ

Well how about you work harder and put those extra dollars into a real Sony micro SD instead of fake ones from street vendors, nom sayin’?

  • RockStar2005

So Cola you gonna buy the int’l XP or what? lol

  • Talos the Robot

Man ask professional photographers not stupid phone users. Sony & Sandisk make the best SD & MicroSD cards.

  • Emil Oskarsson

Hmm weird it wasn’t suppose to come to either Germany or UK but now it looks like Sony have changed their mind. XD

  • coach

    Yeah I know, that’s why I’m posting this :-P

  • jonathan3579

What other $550-700 phone has a plastic frame? Oh that’s right… none.

  • Dominic81

“The Xperia X Performance costs $699.99”

    HA HA.. HAHAHA

  • raju

    4.5 is best

  • Abhi

I dont think Sony even has Fabs, it’s probably sourced flash from others and Sony branding. Biggest are Micron aka Lexar in collabration with Intel, Samsung and also SanDisk in collaboration with Toshiba.

SanDisk regular and Ultra are pretty bad performance wise but the higher end Extreme and Extreme Pro are no less than the competitors. A lot of the failed cards are actually fakes from eBay and occasionally Amazon. I have experienced that myself. SanDisk is probably the most counterfeitted of the SD brands.

  • Abhi

Lexar (Micron) or Samsung is probably better if you hate SanDisk though I think you just had bad luck.

  • Abhi

Sony doesn’t have Flash Fabs, at least that I am aware of, for example you do know they used sourced flash from Toshiba-SanDisk collabration in some of their SSDs right? A lot of SD and SSD makers source their flash and just rebrand.

  • Dominic81

    $699 hahahaha

  • Afzal Zainal Rddz

And all metal frame phone had plastic inserts to ensure the phone’s antennas operate corretly which is ugly .

  • jonathan3579

You Sony fanboys will do and say anything to keep your precious dying manufacturer from looking bad. You can’t stop the stench of their rotting corpse. Get over it.

  • Afzal Zainal Rddz

Hater gonna hates … Troll harder next time.. Lol

  • jonathan3579

That’s your rebuttal? I should have expected as much from someone blinded by namesake who can’t grasp the concept of value to cost ratio. Nobody is going to buy these expensive paperweights with shitty battery life and shitty cameras.

  • Nikola Maruni?

    Hilarious.

  • azzido

    What for?

  • azzido

Due to extremely low sales… in Q1 Sony mobile sold 3,4 mln devices, only Microsoft sold less: 2,3 mln while Shamesung sold 81,5 mln devices in Q1… + … Sony and Microsoft are now outside 12 biggest manufacturers and are heading directly to closing the business.

There was a header like ” Xperia Z is no more”.
Time for “Sony mobile is no more” or “shaking hands with Nokia” etc.

The sales are dramatically showing people are not interested in X midrangers and are still demanding Z series to be back in its glory, as a proper successor to Z5 series, in at least 3 different sizes.

No any other overpriced low/mid rangers like X are required…

  • azzido

Probably the same way as it was getting the signal for Z series?
    Think before posting…

  • azzido

5,5″ is best, previously we had 5,2″ with Z at least, but X is mediocre for those that size matters.

  • azzido

Correct me if I am wrong, SanDisk is the only manufacturer of microSD cards and the rest is just branding ???

  • azzido

Just skip it as most people does – sales shows everything.
Sony showed the middle finger to its loyal customers with abandoning Z series, now its the time for the customers to show the middle fingers to Sony’s X crap series…

Considering the sales in Q1 + pre-orders it looks it is working :)
Finally people started to think and just voted with their wallets.

  • illstplaya .

I don’t really know why people are complaining about the price. The XA and XA ultra are very reasonable. And the x performance is priced just like every other top tier smartphone, extremely expensive. The only difference between the x performance and other smartphones is the fingerprint sensor and the 3gb of ram which is still a lot. Phones have no problem keeping apps loaded with 3gb of ram. 4gb would be nice but it’s not necessary in 2016 and it just kills battery life faster since thats another gig that has to e powered up

  • JHMBB2

T-Mo needs to pick this up soon, I think my Z3 is finally showing it’s age.

  • jamie evans

XA has 2 models, F3115(international) and F3113(US). Both will work in the US?

  • DarkMaster

”I dont think Sony even has Fabs, it’s probably sourced flash from others and Sony branding ” (FACEPALM)

  • DarkMaster

SanDisk is very good when it comes to read and write speeds and many times outperforms both Sony and Samsung but fail rate is just not acceptable I would say 6 to 7 out of 10 SanDisk memory cards will fail for sure .

  • Abhi

Then maybe you can explain why no Xperia has Sony branded NAND…… and why their SSDs use sourced flash…

  • EQ

Yes but it is irrelevant in regards to fake ones which are made out of the cheapest materials and non existant QA. And those are often sold by street vendors, Ebay sellers and dubious stores at a “great” price. If you buy 2 in a row and they both fail you can be quite sure they are fake ones. and accounting that she didn’t want to use warranty after 2 months (you only get 0 to 1 month warranty for fakes) she knew she bought bad rice but pretended to be legit. No 5 dollars for her!

  • Jonny

    Who care?

  • Talos the Robot

I use one Sandisk for 2 years now for 4K recording on my phone. No problem till now.

  • Abhi

As much as I liked the Z3 I had 7 exchanges (8 devices) before I got a good one. A TMO rep indirectly said they wouldn’t be carrying any Sony devices any time soon after the high return rates due to quality control issues with that one.

  • Abhi

Even on Amazon you have to be careful as some of the sales are from independent sellers and not Amazon itself.

  • Abhi

Same, 64GB Extreme U3 here in my Z3, no issues. He makes bold claims with little evidence… either he is very unlucky or got a bunch of fakes. All the major brands are pretty good.

  • EQ

That is true. Rule is that if the price is to good and below margins it most likely is a fake one.

  • JHMBB2

Yeah, my first Z3 kept shutting off after 5 minutes. Returned it got a new one and it’s been fine ever since. My wife’s was perfectly fine. It’s rough though, I miss the days when Sony’s quality control was not an issue.

  • Mallahet

“Your fingerprint keeps your phone secure
Swipe your finger on the backside sensor panel to unlock your phone.”

    Ha!

  • Jorgie Llanos

    Agreed.

  • Eduardo Zzavala

Certainly! Perhaps Samsung for Touch Wiz need more ram. Do you know?
