  • Asu

    Z5 rolling… nothing since the first M update :/

  • bckp

Yeah, new update, still old security patches… Huray sony, feel like idiot again…

  • Tim Rox Westerholm

I received it earlier today, my first impression was actually better battery life even tho it’s not listed in the changelog… Still face problems when connecting to Chromecast using the Youtube app tho… Dunno if that’s because of YouTube or the software, but I never faced these problems on 6.0

  • When using Google Play Music and listening via Bluetooth headphones or speakers, my device name shows up as BluetoothA2dp.

    Check my post fire screenshot:
    https://plus.google.com/+RaphaelNdem/posts/93RNtPFSkKs

Has this been fixed by the update?

  • Abdul Ghani

i think chrome cast is based on wifi because on my z5 wifi still has lag

  • raju

    What security patch??!?

  • The_Newtype

I noticed that as well. Still running April’s patch.

  • nfs2010

Has anyone run into the volume level bugs? Google map navigation, phone calls are always overriding the default volume levels to the max level. WTF? Or is that a new feature?

  • illstplaya .

    What bugs have been patched?

  • Ming William Lee

    How about Xperia X UI?

  • John Walker

This is not Nexus device so dont expect the latest security patches. If you want them buy a Nexus device

  • Bashar Shehab

How about the X UI, and July security update? -_-

  • LiterofCola

Any relation to the recent X Performance update?

  • Lachlan Holland

Z5 Premium in Australia updated lats night, Bluetooth stuttering all gone, sound quality seems much better. There is a god!

  • galtom

Question: Is it only my problem and my Z5 should get fixed or is it common thing – I can not use “tap to wake” option as I did no all my Lumias. My Z5 wakes up (unlocks) in my pocket, tries to call emergency no, etc.
    For now function is unusable.
Can anyone advise on the issue?

  • Margaret Lawrence

    <<o. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????:::::::!bw751p:….,….

  • HypeZ

you’re not alone bro. Thats the reason because i had to disable double tap to wake :( i still miss my old Lumia 930 for this and other reasons :(

  • galtom

I have talked both to Polish repair support and Sony Mobile support.
Repair support siad they got no knowledge about such issue and that I should send my phone to them. They did not replied how the issue will be fixed.
Sony Mobile support rote to me, that they have no knowledge about such issues and that the news will be passed on to developers temat. I have asked if I can expect any feedback from devs – why is it happening, are there plans to fix it, how (lit looks like software issue – tap to wake not using proximity sensor to decide if it should unlock the phone/wake the screen), etc… but they did not bother to reply :-(
Can owner of the website or one of the writers ask Sony about this as it looks like I am not the only one with problem???

  • Denis Deny Jamny

I had this problem as well on my Z3C. Solved it first by turning my phone around in my pocket an now I have a case on it. Problem solved :D

  • Denis Deny Jamny

Well don’t ever expect that. It’s what separates the X series from the rest. If you want the icons, download eg. Light Blue X theme from Xperien dev. You don’t have to apply the theme, only the icons. Want the wallpapers? Apply this or any other theme. And here you have like almost whole X UI without any problems ;)

  • Ming William Lee

I am definitely using that… But I just want that lock screen without root my device… Please don’t say like, the memory and storage management are still lacking…

  • myxelloss

Is the Stamina mode ever coming back again to Z3? :/

  • galtom

You mean put phone with screen facing outwards? Not very safe for the screen :-(. Plus… Lumias never had such problem regardless of phone position in pocket… so I know it is doable.
I just wonder how many users has this issue – all Z5 or there is really a bug and this could be easily fixed?

  • Emil Oskarsson

Yeah might be so, got a small update to my x performance a couple of days ago aswell :p

  • An update for updates’ sake.

  • Same problem with mine too. It turns the screen on in pocket and goes to emergency calling and i get to know when number pressing vibration hits me. So i turned that feature on and i dont really use it, let me know if it gets fixed anytime soon.

  • Emil Oskarsson

You will be disappointed, the new stamina mode is not like the old one. Google tucked everything up with their shorty doze that doesn’t seem to do anything good at all. The new stamina mode is only a good thing to activate when the battery lvl is low. Otherwise you might get a considerable slower phone than you are used with du to performance decreases when using the new stamina mode :(

  • They should have included the June Security Patch in it. Actually f**k that, port the new UI to this build.

  • theskig

Many people have this problem and advised Sony developers on talk sonymobile forum. I’m one of them. We suggested to introduce the proximity sensor control to detect when the phone is in the pocket.

Answer from developers: We know the issue, please disable double tap feature.

    That’s really helpful, thanks!

  • theskig

    EDIT: double answer

  • galtom

Any chances for link to Sony Devs reply? I’d love to ask my local Sony Support why am I being treated like an idiot.

  • Denis Deny Jamny

My guess would be that it’s common to every user who has too soft pockets couse the display is sensitive for such materials. And Sony probably doesn’t use proximity sensor to solve it… But that’s just my guess.

  • Zero McLannary

Yeah… I used to say this too when my top device was Z5. Then I got an S7 and I get monthly security patches.

  • John Walker

I dont think you belong here. Your a traitor and disgrace for Sony family. Security patches are for what exactly? What can harm our phone?

  • John Walker

At least double tap to sleep works good

  • bryan

i still beg for S6 software update, it won’t be long for S7 too, nexus still best

  • Tim Rox Westerholm

    Swe:

Jaså då du har uppgraderat nu ;)
Hur e batteritiden? Läste att den inte var bra alls för tillfället…

  • Henrique Costa

whats the stamina z3c and z3 version? veeeery slow!

  • Emil Oskarsson

  • alsahhir

I installed CyanogenMod therefore received monthly updates

  • galtom

Does not work for me. Prox. sens is on the right. When covered with finger screen still reacts to double tap.

  • djfapples

What about stamina and ultra stamina for z2

  • sebaa123

What is the theme name of image on right? i like it ! where i can i find it for z3 compact?

  • Mike Hannam

Can I install that on my z3+ or only on z5?

  • Zero McLannary

    *you’re

My very much alive and working arc S, Z2 and Z5 beg to differ. I simply got myself an S7 because X Perf was much too late to the party (and my contract needed a renewal last March).

Security patches are like insurance policies, it’s better to have them and not use them than not have them at all.

  • Zero McLannary

The answer is yes. Go to XDA.

  • Same case over here (MX)! Haven’t tried with this new build from yesterday, but yeah, placing it as you mention solves the problem for me. I rely a lot on double tap while at work.

  • bckp

Others can do it, Sony in concept can do it, so whats problem? But you are right, switching to nexus for next phone… after z1,z3,z5,z5p, now it is time for new nexus

  • bckp

Viruses, idiots, some of us use phone as work device and need security.
Traitor? Kind a strong word, sony is reasson people leave their phones, late updates, late release dates, bloatware, ads in apps, and new flagship every half year…

  • alsahhir

in xda unofficial, waite cyanogenmod website to suppurt it

  • androexpert00

As long as I installed Andropluskernel all problems gone ;)

  • jamie evans

Sony should release a softwear update that improve X family’s battery. Every reviewer says the battery is the worst

  • John Walker

Will you sell me your z5? ;D for 100 dollars?

  • Manu

On my Z3+ it also seems like the Bluetooth stuttering is finally TOTALLY gone ;)

  • Nayib

If you mean X’s UI, I don’t think that’s going to happen. Maybe they want to have some differences between Z and X

  • Yay, looking forward to the Customized AU version being rolled out, and having the stuttering issues fixed with BT!

  • galtom

I have no idea what you just said :(

  • Tim Rox Westerholm

    Alright!
Annars låter de som att du är nöjd med den :)

Hur pass mycket stor skillnad finner du på de nya gränssnittet jämfört med de du sett av förra flaggskeppet Z5?

  • cristian06yxtl

They dont fix ram management Dialer its load everytime when i open it

  • Frode P. Bergsager

If Sony is using the same proximity sensor as in Z3 the sensor is in deep sleep unless the screen is active. It is not possible to wake and check status for proximity sensor alone, while the screen touch sensor is designed to operate while phone is in sleep mode.

  • theskig

If is it true I will expect a detailed technical answer from a developer, not “solution is disable double tap”

  • Frode P. Bergsager

I agree, here is the technical answer we received in the Concept for Z3 group:
    https://plus.google.com/104167639534368004561/posts/PJk8WuBnX3W

  • Ates

does anyone knows…32.2.A.0.253 what about low incoming ringtone sound …is it fix?

  • cristian06yxtl

Seems .253 have better thermal management in z3+ But ram management its horrible Be shame Sony ,z3+ can’t keep dialer in memory Its killed over and over

  • sebaa123

Thanks for answering, for my looks like a custom , not stock… the xperia button from the middel is nice :D

  • Nebojša

They won’t give us Camera2 API!
If they don’t give us Camera2 API until decembre 2016, i will look for Galaxy device with full manual control camera! Sony f*cked up with camera software!

  • theskig

    That’s an answer!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • ??

can anyone tell me the bad side effect of this new update

  • babylonbwoy
  • Khillo81

I will let Sony know about your ultimatum…

  • Nebojša

    Yeah, let them know!

  • Emil Oskarsson

  • Emil Oskarsson

Hmm Okey thought it made the cpu to only use the lower power hungry cores :p never really used ultra stamina mode but sure it could be useful :)

  • Vanja

Why does CE1(and many others) takes one month to release fw?
It’s idiotic. Battery life is crap, but for me, no update!

  • 3_nity

    :D

  • christere

Isn’t this an English speaking forum?

  • doctorin

It’s my case too. Great news!

  • CheungYin

Hey guys are you serious?! turn this useful function off just because of this? I mean, I used to experience this for a while but, why dont you just try to put the phone in your pocket in a different way? Just turn it over before you put it in the pocket and problem solved! I think double tap 2 wake is a must on thing for android phones.

  • Nick

Has anybody had an issue with their temporarily losing all their recent apps (i.e. the card layout you get when you press the square) but upon reboot, it comes back? I’m pretty certain that it started with the 32.2.A.0.253 build for me.

  • Joakim Andersson

    It works for me.

  • Roberto Betancourt

Bluetooth connectivity actually got worse for me with this update. Particularly with apps that establish Bluetooth LE connections as central devices. I posted a support request in the developer forums: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/Latest-Xperia-System-Update-Version-32-2-A-253-broke-Bluetooth/m-p/1144363#U1144363
    Please help!

  • mike

Yes, if its inside your pocket, the screen should be back to back with your skin.. i beleive the handset treat heat from our body as a touch/tap. so the handset tot that you have just double tap.

    sorry for badenglish.

  • galtom

I do not feel comfortable (secure) placing my phone in my pocket with screen facing outwards. + It was never requirement of any Lumia with Tap 2 Wake function.

  • galtom

Still, Lumia (even 640 – for 1/4 of Z5 price) had never any issues with this function. Worked like a charm.

  • Deki

I bought Z5 yesterday and I still haven’t played with the options and functionalities. But, the phone is awesome!

It is really fast and working as a beast. Only thing I got angry is that there was no headset included…

  • giskardors

Question: After I updated to the latest firmware the screen goes black when I make a call, I cant turn it on, I cant hung up, its stuck there until I hard reset. Anybody facing this issue? Is there a way to fix it?

  • Duygu Deveci

Mine too but same before update. Only you can do : Settings -> Accessibility -> Power button ends call

  • giskardors

Exactly! Thats the only way I’ve found to solve it, sometimes

putting a finger on top the sensor turns the screen back on. I was hoping this last update fixed the annoying update. Any ideas how to reach sony about this issue?

  • Jacky

I just got it today and seems like Bluetooth stuttering is gone, but I’ll take more time to confirm. Also they have fixed the crash bug on contacts app. I was one of the few people who had this bug and it was annoying..I’m glad they fixed all of these within 3 weeks

  • Ben Solomon

My Z3 Plus still overheats after the update.

  • Arkane Slayer

After the update, I have issues with the SIM card not detected!!! Anybody else experiencing this problem?

  • foolchild

I’ve had big overheating problems with the phone on certain Apps – most notably Real Racing 3. Loaded the firmware update this morning and tried RR3, heating was much reduced. That’s only one brief test, but gives me hope that Sony have possibly implemented a software fix for the infamous Snapdragon 810 overheating problem.

  • Mehmet

I had a Z5 Compact 5 months ago but I sold it because of the heating problems, the device was easily getting over 40 degrees of celcius! That’s not fine to use and hold such a hot device in your hands! I’d like to buy a Z5 Compact but I was wondering if the heating problems are solved with the new(er) updates or is it still very hot?

  • Michael Kelly

The issue occurs when your display faces your body in your pocket. If you turn the display away from your body in your pocket, the problem should be solved!
It has solved this issue for me so far. I know this problem from when tap to wake started so.. It’s the easiest way and works swell.

The problem I guess, is that the display sensor recognizes an electrical disturbance over its panel which normally occurs when you tap the display. But this time it’s coming from your leg or body, depending on which pocket you’re using.

As the currents of a single finger and a leg should be totally different, the display should recognize this you would think.
True! But as you are wearing clothing, not much of this larger current disturbance is passing through, so there is just enough disturbance to actually make the sensor believe it is you finger tapping on the screen.

I hope this helps a little

  • galtom

This is not real solution to the problem. First of all I do not like to carry my phone this way. Secondly all other phones with such function I had never required this “trick”.
And issue is there because tap to wake is not using info from proximity sensor.
    Thanks for comment!

  • Michael Kelly

I see what you’re saying, sure others are using the sensor, but others are not trying to save power like Sony is too.
I do not understand why it is such a big problem just turning the phone around, but that’s up to whoever owns the phone. For me, it’s just complaining on a high end scale because the function works and the problem really only occurs in on situation, when the display is turned towards your body in your pockets.
But if this is really such a big problem.for you, root the device, use a costum Rom where power saving terminations have been deleted, only 3 hours of battery a day and your tap to wake issue will be solved ;)

  • galtom

Can not agree. I head this feature on cheap Lumia 640 and battery was fine. I could use this phone for 2 days (i can not say this – same type of use – about Z5).
With lumia i did not had to think how i put my phone back to pocket.
Secondly i feel phone screen is a lot more secure when facing towards your body.
Thirdly – the phone also woke up on its own when was in my suit jacket (chest) pocket.
It is simply crappy made function. And another I can see was a lot better was sensitive touch on my Lumia 920.
I had it always on. Use in gloves – no problem. With Z5 i have it off as the screen is too sensitive. Actually it is more annoying than useful. I got to say i am sure surprised that such bugs occur to Sony products.

  • Michael Kelly

Well I have a usage of 5 days so far and I’m happy with it. Maybe just check your settings

  • Larsson

Any information about this “Improved bluetooth handling” ? My BMW’s idrive started to crash after 32.2.A.0.224 update and 32.2.A.0.253 did not help. Car’s entertainment system reboots every two minutes. No such problem prior 32.2.A.0.224 update!

  • EdSena

I’m running this build on my z3+ dual, and the battery performance has been miserable… I used to have a z3, and it battery would last the whole day, even under considerable utilization, but my current phone dies around noon even if sits on the desk the whole morning… Anyone else experiencing the same behavior? Battery stats blames Android OS…

  • SonyMan

WTF?!?? Your lumia was just a lumia. The only thing it did good was, obviously, the double tap to wake! Other than this you should get over it and realize you now own a Sony smartphone, which means unparalleled build quality and toughness against any orientation or position inside a bag, pocket, purse or whatever. Quit bitching about it every 2 comments and place the god damn screen outwards if it solves the problem!!! Don’t act like a retarded autistic 10year old. I use Z5P and although it’s really difficult to carry on on tight jeans I’ve never managed to even give it the slightest bend. I work as a parking valet and i always press against its screen because we don’t all drive on the same seat adjustment, so the steering wheel most of the times presses the phone in my pocket. There is nothing to be afraid of, everything has been tested. Learn to live with premiumness! That’s why you paid for a Sony device in the first place.

  • SonyMan

Which device…On Z5P covering the proximity doesn’t affect tap2wake feature. It still wakes!

  • galtom

& my Xperia is just an Xperia. Nothing more. And to be honest after few months with Z5 i know few things.
    – android is only a little better than it used to be – this phone has the same issues my Galaxy SIII had – for example when it is cool, unused and you press button to wake it up (because 2tap to wake fuction is crap as i said :-) ) every 1 in ten times it just don’t – you need to wait 5 – 6 seconds before it activates the screen

    – battery is crap
    – it overheats as crazy
    – when water gets to headphones socket phone goes crazy – thinks headphones got in, out, in, out, in, out…..
    – as it is android it does live its own life quite often…

I regret buying it. As much as I do not like iOS i’d be better of with iPhone. But now… I simply will go back to Lumia 950 – much better experience.

And your advices about screen (put it outwards) considering the quality you mentioned & price is as useful as if Sony support would tell you to blow on your phone if it gets hot :-) – simply it sounds like a joke – not a real solution to a problem.

So for all this smoothness, quality, long working hours, low work temperatures & more I say – Thank you very much. My next phone wlll not be a Sony device.

  • SonyMan

I’m using Sony phones since Xperia acro s which means my opinion on the matter matters a bit more after 10 years with Sony phones. If you think an iPhone would be better you are obviously on a wrong platform. If you cannot see how Sony’s ecosystem works better than any other Android oem you bought a false device in the first place. Either if it was a Samsung, an HTC or a Sony smartphone you would still find a reason to hate it. You are obviously not made for Android and open-source os since all the “problems” you mentioned are minor glitches that can be solved with an hour of research through xda. I own Z5P for a few months and I’ve never had any of the problems you’re saying. My phone comes with me always in the shower and plays music unstoppably. Never had the water jack issue nor an issue with battery life. I still haven’t managed to see less than 5 hours of so. I used to get 3.5 when it was new and bloated. If you’re not capable of setting up an android phone and optimize it up to your needs you simply don’t buy an android ever again. Go get an iPhone and stop complaining about issues that even my daughter can solve if I leave her with a pc. You’re welcome and I definitely hope your next phone isn’t a Sony cuz from ignorant and amateurs people like you oems build bad reputation for no reason.

  • galtom

Your opinion matters to you – not me. It does not matter for how long you are using Sony phones as the fact that previous were good does not guarantee that all future will be as well. Z5 is not my first smartphone either – first was SE P900 long time ago. It is not my first Android phone either. It is simply not as good as it should be, as Sony promised/advertised it, as price would suggest.

Yes, at tjis point i do think iOS would be better. Got iP5 at home (just upgraded to iOS10) and it simply works – always.
However i’d rather move back to Windows 10. The only thing that stops me is lack of support for my Garmin watch.

I do not care for Sony ecosystem as i don’t use it. I work in Google/Microsoft environment and i do not see how Sony Ecosystem would be better – if there is something like Sony ecosystem.

And when you say i am not made for Andrioid – you are probably right. I am not made (have no time nor desire) for half-baked products. Searching through XDA how to sort tap to wake issue is simply waste of my time. I do not buy a tool like phone to spend more time in order to make it work as it should in the first place. I did not pay for not working phone. Feature tap to wake was advertised – I paid for it. If I buy “make your phone kit” that’s different.

And to end this silly discussion – you are simply rude – hope you are proud of yourself.

To make life harder for you I will complain as much as I like and wherever I like – you.. I will simply ignore. EOT.

  • SonyMan

Maybe you are right..I was a bit ruder than I should…I hope you’ve updated to 32.2.A.0.305 which I can confirm doesn’t have tap2wake problems inside pockets. No more random unlocks or emergency calls on 32.2.A.0.305 on Z5P. Hope it works for you too.

  • galtom

    Apology accepted.

So far phone does not show new soft available (it is unbranded).
    I am still on 32.2.a.0.253
