  • The z ultra was and still is superior my god that phone is years old and it still keeps up, it even has a to me better screen than the z5 premium and the frame around is better so is the design, it just lacks stereo speakers and flash and the notification led of the z2 to be the ultimate phone.

  • jag

Yup! That phone still works!! I even regret giving it to my brother. Haha!
But this XA ultra got something in its sleeves. Don’t forget it has 16mp front ois camera and a 23mp rear. So that would be really something!! I’ve tried the device here in Singapore and it is like comparable to a flagship phone plus the big edge to edge screen design is a beauty to behold. The only downside really is the chip inside it. But hey, common buyers won’t give a damn about it and it is SGD 200 cheaper than X.

I had the Z Ultra! The screen was a truly a joy to use! Only complaints were the camera – 8mp & no flash and the mooshy power button. I had to replace it though because it got in the way when I biked.

  • An Li

    best selfie phone!

  • zip

The screen size is perfect for PS4 remote play, but too bad mediatek SoCs are shitty for remote play due to input lag. Guess I’ll still use my trusty T2 Ultra.

  • Matt

keeping up yes, sony quality. better ? no.

design ? its a personalized thing , but i prefer cleaner design than plastic galore z ultra is. z2 notification is quite bad, you cant see it an angle and it gets dirty easily .

but i guess good for you to liking it

Just like XA, little bit over-priced in India. 25k could have been competitive !!!

  • jxPerience

just checked one store in dubai last night, disappointed of FOV of front camera, its comparable to xperia z3 series and narrower than with the Z5 and up series. 16mp cam and can only capture your face and neck at the same time. Why they reduce the fov of the front camera????

  • KarFar

ruined by the shitty mediatek, SD625 should be there instead.

  • Nikhil Yadav

If One can go for 25K then one can also go for 30K. I don’t think some one could plan to spend 25 out of 30 and live the life with rest 5K so i think 30K is good. After all, You are paying for the good of environment too, as Sony manufactures it on CLEAN ENERGY and leaves zero Carbon Footprint in manufacturing process. Sony is Ranked 5th most Environmental friendly company.

  • Haishu

I have the z ultra for 2 years and I’m waiting for the ZX Ultra, because XAU filling is very weak and inferior phone 3 years ago.

  • EQ

Honestly compared to previous Xperia phones htis one comes out as a McDonalds meal.

The design issues with the X series seem to come from Sony Mobiles marketing surveys they sent the Z3+/Z5 owners…. They sent out a questionnaire asking what features were expected in a flagship… but then only allowed for 3 or 4 things to be selected…. thinking of what a flagship needs you should be able to list “5 essentials” and “5 must haves” immediately… to limit the replies to 4 in total showed no understanding. and when you look at the X performance.. and your list of “10” must have/essentials you can see, it only has 4 of them…. Sony Mobiles marketing asked the wrong questions, got the wrong replies AND BUILT THE WRONG PHONE

16 GB onboard memory. Come on, Sony. You’re better than that. If you made this 32GB and sold it at $425, I’d buy it.

Well I didn’t knew for Clean Energy thing. Still I would say 30k for this hardware is too much. Though it fall in line with the current Sony strategy to focus on profitability rather than device sales and results are clearly visible.
Sony forecast much less units but then, the company has already turned into profits. I think Sony struggling to keep operating cost to minimum hence limiting the demands via inflated price.

P.S- I don’t think Sony Top Levels are fool, but instead, they tried to make us think that way and they succeeded. Limiting the demand by launching phones at higher prices to dodge high operating (Manufacturing) cost, and hence PROFIT.

  • Ben Ling

Also available in Malaysia at RM1,699 with free back case

  • Steven Khoo Skkl

XAU in Malaysia is a staggering RM1699 (-420USD)..
As much as its a very stylish phone that in my short look at its specs, thinks it is well equipped in its class (bar the battery), I feel it should be a little less expensive…

  • Harut Hajin

Yes Z Ultra was and still superior, after slim glass design, I cant feel any good from new phones

If you put performance and/or gaming aside, this phone is excellent value for money, especially when you consider that Sony actually puts efforts into updating their mid-range phones (even when they have MediaTek chipsets). Sony is not banking on gaming heavy customers, they are targeting cameraphiles and business users/casual users. The Xperia M5 still costs somewhere between 24-25K in India, and putting only the performance aside, it still holds its own against ALL competitors on a feature-by-feature basis, including battery life, LTE band compatibility, audio quality and cameras…..The M5 is so good, that one doesn’t need to consider the Xperia X. The Xperia XA Ultra is also similar in that sense that it IS good value for money.
