Has Sony already forgotten that the XZs exists? I’m still on the February patch…

  • PatQQ

So fast these days with security updates! Great job Sony!

  • Zsolt Zsolt

Very nice Sony! You are so fast!

  • Marinko Agic

Xperia XZ June security patch here! :-(

  • Eric Ho

Sony, please update the z5 series to orea

  • razorg

If only they keep updating my Z5C with newer security patches with at least “once in two months” cycle until September 2018, I’ll be a happy Sony customer. I don’t want Oreo 8.0, 7.1.1 is very much alright, bearing in mind that all equivalent phones (Galaxy S6, HTC M9) are all stuck at 7.0… (Google’s guidelines suggests 2 years of Android version upgrades + 1 year of security patchings to OEMs, 3 years in total AT LEAST, but they seem to be caring about only the first part of this…)

  • Zsolt Zsolt

    Try sony companion on pc.

  • shumayal

    Xperia ☓ F5122 please OREO

  • Stay Lift3d

X will receive Oreo very soon

  • Dariusz Zięba

Too bad my X Performance died, atleast got 400 euros back on the guarantee and bought an XZ premium instead xD Now i have to wait until the update for XZ premium arrives :D

  • Emil Oskarsson

Even galaxy s7 and s8 are stuck at 7.0 so XD but Yeah Sony should still provide security updates a year more IMO :) Sadly their history with security updates for phones that wont get a newer android version speaks for itself… :(

  • Emil Oskarsson

Wait what? It still on february? Thought it had been updated along with XZ and X Performance a couple of times since then :S

  • KarFar

    how it died?

  • Boki Tadic (Legia)
  • Nope, It’s not!

  • Why don’t you try flashing a different ROM?
It surely has to do with your operator…so updates delay a bit, or a lot more ;)
I’m using RU build for example but TELCEL MX is still on 41.2.A.7.8

  • JC

I prefer Oreo, but please, do.

  • JC

Nope, I also have that in my Xperia Z5 Premium.

  • (NinJer)

And having the dual model from HK i won’t see this till 4 months later.

  • mjst12

Unfortunately the CE1 rom is almost the oldest out of the all unbranded roms: https://xpericheck.com/device/F8331

Even Orange and T-Mobile have much newer roms in Poland.

  • mjst12

I guess you are using the Central Europe rom (CE1) and unfortunately the CE1 rom is almost the oldest out of the all unbranded roms: https://xpericheck.com/device/F8331
I don’t know why Sony stopped updating this rom while other regions get constant updates.

  • kurakuradisco

Idk, all out of sudden it couldn’t play up videos or animations anymore everything just froze until you touched the screen really wierd. Couldn’t even connect it to the pc to perform a software repair… Told Sony that it was most likely a hardware fault but they just repaired the software when I turned it in. Eventually I couldn’t even turn on the screen nor force it to reboot. After two times they told me it was no point of trying to fix it anymore and the store where I bought the phone gave me 400 euros back (bought it for 520 euros a year ago) Then I bought the xz premium for a total of 790 euros :p

  • Jerry Berglund

Oh cant my phone just die like yours did, and I Could get the new XZ1 compact lol

  • Emil Oskarsson

Haha yeah that would be great xD But honestly x compact ain’t a bad phone :)

  • Objectif

    Lol

  • Objectif

I receive Play protect inside Playstore on my Z5 too this morning. Before I have it in the settings…

  • Jerry Berglund

thats true. Its not bad, but its not good either. lol. Its kinda Lagom-phone. :-)

  • hansip

Guys, i think i want to be back with Sony again (i’m on Mi4c right now) but i want to ask first. is XZ still offering good experience after all these updates? Reading XDA seems like too many issue though..

in my area, XA1 Ultra and XZ cost roughly the same (XZ cost around 50 dollar more but that’s not much of a difference to me) would it be better to go with XA1 Ultra or XZ? I don’t mind performance difference in games as long as UI is fluid enough, but i do mind for better battery life. Can anybody give me suggestion? i like the XZP but still around 200 US$ more so no..

  • coblaks

    thai?
    sg?
    or??
because x series is not official in indonesia

  • kurakuradisco

    Taiwan

  • Doume AF

    Thanks Sony :)
Anyone have some news about Nougat 7.1.2 ? Oreo will come soon But N7.1.2 no !!!

  • impasse

got it this morning on my unlocked xz (F8331) in the us on t-mobile :) also noticing the play store protect thing this morning, before updating.

  • Emil Oskarsson

That word “lagom”… XD Whats bad with it then? :) I can say its better then my X Performance was (my father has an X compact) :)

  • Moisés

    I guess 7.1.2 is just for nexus/pixel.

  • Moisés

This is because play store got updated itself.
I have too on my Z3+.

  • Juan Carlos

I have a XZ and works flawlessly! Also it has a satisfying battery life….! I would go for the XZ instead of XA1 ultra. Now XA1 plus will be released soon and it will have a battery larger than any Xperia on the Market.

  • hansip

So xa1 plus is the ticket yeah?

  • humma rimsha

Why I can’t get update in india

  • mjst12

I think right now you should install the Australian rom (Customized AU) – it was the first rom that got the September Android security update.

  • Juan Carlos
  • ramel naila
  • Ziggy

Weird if you have February. My XZs is with August security patches and this or next week comes the September patches through OTA.

  • simos

it doesnt matter so much if goes to oreo the only think that matters is to policy the performance of all models to be a bit better than when they have bought and not worse like sony xz is or was on july

  • Piponxs

Press like if you are owning XZ and still reading this in december

  • megaman

will there be a lte cat 16 firmware for xperia xz?

  • washinma2424

I just got the update over the air and it basically disabled my phone I get “Ghost Taps” It will keep tapping the back button and home button by itself. Sony customer service is garbage just told me to send it in to Service center and be without my phone for 14 days!!! Fuc
