HK got the October Oreo update in March, I’ll let you know how the March update looks in August.

  • Ignatio Podhi Javlo

Why they don’t bring us the 8.1 already?

  • Eduardo Otero

The first to know it will be XZ2, then XZ1 then XZ…

  • Sze How Yap

i’ll say i prefer sony stick to 8.0 as long as they focus on solving the heat & battery issue

  • Vũ Hữu Hưng

I have just downloaded it 28 mins ago and now i’m installing it.
it seems that this is just a minor security patch (based on installing time, about 3-5 mins) so don’t hope any new stuff or fixing existed problems this time :(

  • Vũ Hữu Hưng

Agreed, those are 2 problem that makes me regret when switching form Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL to this one. Sometimes its components reach nearly 60*C, battery over 40*C (CPU-Z) when using video call for a long time, or anything related to camera -> thermal throttling + battery dropping; even in daily usage it is a way hotter than other phones . Just unacceptable even the outdoor temp is around 13*C.

  • Sze How Yap

the most ironic is the problem wasn’t there with stock nougat

  • Sze How Yap

so no improvement over battery life?that’s too bad

  • What happened to Sony?.. Keep updating device time to time?… Anyway i appreciate that.

  • Caner Şen

This is interesting. These phones got the update, before XZ Premium. Maybe they will give Android 8.1 to XZ Premium with March update?

  • Piponxs

No three latest Central Europe updates

  • mykadpro mobile

    become slower

  • Yatheesh

So still they haven’t fixed Bluetooth bug

  • Emil Oskarsson

Ehm they update their phones once every month to include the new security patch? Why do you even complain about that? It does also include bug fixes and tweaks :p

  • Ahmad Syauqi Khairuddin

I hope this fixed alarm notification bug (which you cannot dismiss it after you let it snooze for a period of time)

  • It’s not the first time that 2016 flagships was updated faster than 2017 ones. And I don’t believe 8.1 update will come before XZ2 will be available in stores.

  • You can always go back to it :)

  • Ron Lufias

I’m on XZ. Just updated few hours ago. The only things i realized upon completely charging to 100%, it notify me with notification sounds just like Nougat when you enable it in developers option. But it seems i can’t find where the setting is since updated to Oreo, the phone never notify me upon fully charged.

  • Sze How Yap

Ya but that’s annoying also as it involved unlock bootloader(which you will lost important drm and data), n you can’t get rid of the update reminder unless you rooted your phone, do you really think that’s a better options?

  • Max Mirren

XZs is 2017 device, so its alright

  • Simon Reeder

sony are taking the p*ss, XA1 still hasn’t got Feb update or Oreo yet, and there now releasing March update for the Xperia X, which is a 2 YEAR OLD phone

  • hansip

Flagship vs midrange. What do you expect?

  • Russell Hodges

    :( you’re probably right

  • Simon Reeder

shouldn’t make a difference!!! the X is 2 years old, the XA1 isn’t even a year old yet and has much newer tech than the X

  • Emil Oskarsson

Sure hell does make a difference, do you honestly think that they earn that much money from mid range devices that they do from flagship ones? All manufacturer does this so! Atleast the ones who use android :p

  • It came in 2017, but it;s XZ with different camera and 1 GB RAM more. That make it more like 2016 flagship than 2017 almost flagship.
At least I look at that device this way.

Sony probably too, so if they stop supporting XZ and X Performance, I think they will stop supporting XZs as well.

  • Flashing older firmware doesn’t require unlocked bootloader.

And I could live with notification.

+ You can go back to 6.0.1, backup TA partition, flash 7.1, unlock bootloader, Root it and than remove the notification. All that while keeping DRM keys and warranty.

As for data, than it’s lost. However it’s recommended to do factory reset when updating the OS (7.1->8.0 for example) and than You loose data aas well. And if You didn’t do it, than it may be why You have that problems on Oreo. Old data and updates often don’t like working together :P

    Hi…. GSMArena battery test : XZ2 88h

    18h54m talking time
    11h17m web browsing
    10h51m video playback

  • NinJy

Glad to see XZ1 is first served on security updates, especially XZP.

  • Moisés
  • skrug

    what bluetooth bug?

  • skrug

There’s some photo comparison between XZ2 and HTC U11.

  • Sze How Yap

Stock for xzs are using nougat which you can’t backup the ta partition, same if your xz are on nougat and regarding the recommended factory reset after upgrade that’s bs ok? Coz it doesn’t help at all? How you know I didn’t do it?I did it and it didn’t help that’s the things make me even more frustrating! you can c the comment from Sony’s own forum which most are complaining the battery drain issue, and did you own a xzs? If don’t then please don’t pretend like you know everything coz it didn’t help(ok even if you own it your Comment didn’t help as well)

  • Yatheesh

You cant connect to sound bar or Bluetooth speakers but you can connect only to bluetooth headsets!!

    Its a known oreo bug

  • Yatheesh

Can you share the screenshot of that option!?

  • Erwin Hofmann
  • Ron Lufias

  • Ron Lufias

Oh, if double tap to wake (or is it double tap to sleep?) I can understand why they disable for XZs and above, luckily XZ still have it. But I think play sound upon fully charging should be no issue to all devices. Shame

  • Emil Oskarsson

New strategy since x series and nougat update :)

  • Kostadin Vargulev

Am I the only one that notices the battery draining faster? Before the update at the end of the day i had about 25-35%, and now im struggling to keep it on even with stamina on the last 15%.

  • wc

I think he was saying XZ. And XZ has 6.0

  • Anthony Lim

41.3.A.2.99 update brought back this feature.

  • Ganesh Y R

Am also facing the battery drain issue dunno what 2 do. nougat was much better. All apps updated and closed many running apps, with screen brightness kept at d lowest. Still battery is draining at 10 to 15% per hour

  • acme64

my bt drops randomly. its so annoying

  • Ignatio Podhi Javlo

I disabled my Xperia Lounge and I think it’s work. (on battery drain issue).
