Sony Ericsson has delayed the launch of the Xperia Neo smartphone to July as a result of the earthquake in Japan. Just last week we were reporting the launch had been pushed back to the end of April. According to Sony Ericsson Italy, the delay to July has come about given the need to reorganise supply chains to source certain components following the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
It is not clear whether this is for the Italian market alone or whether the launch has been pushed back globally. However, given the incident in Japan, we would imagine this has affected most regions. This is certainly disappointing news if the global launch has been pushed back, especially since the Xperia Neo looks like a great all rounder. We’ll bring you more news as we have it.
Update: We have been informed that the Xperia Neo is already out in Hong Kong so this is not a global delay. As soon as we have further information on which regions this affects we’ll let you know. (Thanks @richardlai!)
