Verizon has cut the price of the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY’s up front price from $200 to $100 a few months after launch. The phone is being sold for $99.99 with a two-year contract.
The price cut is part of the company’s “Back to School” promotion. Whether the cut is due to low sales or to pre-empt a sales war with AT&T (who plan to stock the handset later this year) is unknown right now. However, judging by UK retail feedback, the handset is not exactly flying off the shelves. SE is in this for the long-term though so let’s hope it gets more content for Xperia PLAY users ASAP.
