The Sony Ericsson Xperia active is the company’s all-weather/rugged 3-inch Android smartphone. The Xperia active will launch in Singapore tomorrow (October 1st) in black with orange trim where it will cost S$498 sim-free. The phone was due to launch in the UK at the end of September, but it looks like orders have been delayed for an unspecified period according to both Play.com and Clove.
The Xperia active is designed for the sporty and can handle 30 minutes under water (up to 1m) without suffering any damage. It also has wet tracking technology that allows you to use the 3-inch touchscreen under water. It runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm chipset and carries a 5MP camera sensor capable of 720p video recording. Sony Ericsson support recently released a video covering the Xperia active’s camera features which we’ve included below.
