Grand Theft Auto heading to Xperia PLAY

Sony Ericsson announced its third quarter results yesterday and tucked away in one of the presentation slides was confirmation that a game from Rockstar’s hit Grand Theft Auto series will be heading to the Xperia PLAY at some point. What we don’t know is exactly which GTA game will arrive. Will it be Grand Theft Auto III that was announced for dual-core mobile devices yesterday? Or will it just be the original PSOne GTA hit?

Obviously most people would prefer GTA III, but Xperia PLAY support hasn’t been confirmed just yet. The official press release says to “stay tuned for more devices to be announced” so we can hope that the Xperia PLAY does make the cut. Rockstar has confirmed they will be bringing the game to single-core iOS devices too so that makes us think there’d be no reason to exclude single-core Android devices. We’ll bring you more news as we have it, but either way it’s confirmation of another hit franchise on its way to the Xperia PLAY.
