The black sim-free version of the Sony Xperia S is now up for pre-order at UK retailer Clove, giving the first hint of pricing. Clove has priced it at £468 and expects that the first units will arrive in the week commencing 5 March 2012. The date is certainly good news as we thought a late March release was more likely. Let’s hope there’s no slippage.
Whilst the price may feel a bit steep, it is broadly in the same price category of the Xperia arc (£459.99) when it was on pre-order a year ago. Those looking for a better sim-free deal may however want to wait to see what other retailers are offering before taking the plunge.
Update: We’ve just noticed that Play.com are doing it for £449.99 and have a launch date of 9 March 2012.
Update 2: Scrap that, it gets even better. eBuyer have it for £429.99 for launch of 12 March 2012. Fill yer boots!
