Xperia neo LThere has been some widespread news today talking about a global launch for the Sony Xperia neo L that was announced for the Chinese market back in March. PhoneArena first picked up on the story citing the fact that the handset has appeared on the global Sony Mobile website, which therefore meant it surely had to see a global release, right?

Well we hate to burst anyone’s bubble here, but we see no reason why Sony Mobile would globally launch a phone based on the same specs seen in the 2011 Xperia line up. Obviously Sony have done crazier things before, but we’d be very surprised to see this happen.

Also, we wouldn’t really trust too much what Sony decides to stick on its global website. For example, the Xperia neo L has only been announced for two markets that we are aware of – China and Indonesia. The handset appears on the Sony Mobile China website but the Sony Mobile Indonesia website doesn’t even have the Xperia neo L listed in its product line-up.

This is despite the phone being announced back on 23 April for Indonesia. So the moral of the story is don’t solely base whether a phone or accessory is launching in a particular region just because it is listed on a particular Sony Mobile website.

The Xperia neo L has a 1GHz single-core Snapdragon MSM8255 processor with Adreno 205 graphics and 512MB RAM. It will have a 4-inch (480 x 854) display, 5MP camera capable of 720p video recording, VGA front facing camera and run Android 4.0 ICS.
