One of the less talked about features from the Sony IFA 2012 press conference was Screen Mirroring. This uses Wi-Fi Direct to display content from your phone wirelessly onto your television. Sony is promising full HD live streaming from your phone to the TV using certified WiFi Miracast.
Sony plans on introducing Screen Mirroring to its new handsets – the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V – in November 2012. You will need an adaptor on your TV to enable Screen Mirroring, although Sony hasn’t detailed how much this will cost.
Update: Mirroring will not be available on older Xperia models as it requires a newer Wi-Fi radio. As things stand, with this feature enabled you will only be able to use either mirroring or Wi-Fi connectivity – not both together. This is expected to change in the future through a firmware update.
