Sony’s MWC video wall consisted of 196 Xperia ZL’s

One of the highlights of the Sony Mobile stand at MWC 2013 was a video mosaic wall made up with a 14 x 14 grid of Xperia ZL smartphones. If you do the maths, you’ll know that makes 196 Xperia ZL’s. It was constructed by a company called Visionmill who says that this is an unofficial world record.

One of the guys involved in its construction, Matt Mapleston, says that the wall was installed a few days before MWC. The video wall was used continuously during the show (25-28 February) and was on for six days altogether. One of the pictures below shows the video wall at an early stage of its development. It’s a truly impressive feat and as you’ll notice in the videos below you could touch the screen on a phone to operate it as normal. Then clicking an app would re-sync it with the rest of the wall.
