Xperia Z T-Mob FirmwareThe expected North American version of the Sony Xperia Z (C6606, C6616) has seen two new firmware builds certified by the PTCRB. First of all, we have firmware build number 10.1.1.A.1.319, which we expect would be another Android 4.1.2 update. This compares to the latest Xperia Z firmware (10.1.1.A.1.307) that was recently released.

However, the second firmware version is more intriguing. Build number 10.3.A.0.407 is the first we have seen in the form of 10.3.X.X.XXX and could suggest a major Android iteration over the current firmware. There is a good chance that this is an early build of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

It has been widely rumoured that the Xperia Z would land on a US carrier shortly, with CEO Kazuo Hirai confirming as much recently. T-Mobile looks to be a frontrunner for the device and this news may signal that the handset may arrive with Android 4.2.2 when it appears Stateside. Also, if this is indeed an Android 4.2.2 build, then there is a good chance that we might see it certified for the HSPA+ (C6602) and European LTE (C6603) versions soon.
