The Sony Xperia Z1 is an imaging power house. It is the first Sony Xperia phone incorporating a 1/2.3-inch 20.7MP CMOS chip, the first with G Lens (27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture) and the first with the BIONZ for mobile image processing engine. The phone includes a number of new dedicated camera applications and Sony even plans to include an API allowing developers make their camera app part of the Xperia Z1 camera app.
Okay there will be some that wanted more, whether that be the inclusion of a xenon flash, OIS (optical image stabilisation) or 4K recording, but there’s no denying that the Z1 showcases a very important first step in utilising technology across the Sony umbrella – particularly on the imaging front. We pulled together some photo samples of the Xperia Z1 from early firmware, right up to the latest firmware build (14.1.G.1.518) currently certified on the PTCRB.
