The Sony Xperia Z1 launch event has just taken place for the Indian market, where the immediate availability of the handset has been announced for INR 44,990 (£447, €533, $711). The SmartWatch 2 was also announced for INR 14,990, along with the QX10 and QX100 for INR 12,990 and INR 24,990 respectively.
Sony is offering some great promotional items for a limited time, this includes a premium high-grade leather flip case, a 5,000mAh CP-F5 portable charger as well as six-months of accidental damage cover.
The latter is an unusual one and we’ve never heard of it being offered with a phone before, kudos to Sony as it won’t be cheap offering this. It could be a reaction to those with the Xperia Z handsets who cracked the glass soon after purchase. We’d love to see a similar option introduced in other markets.
