The Sony Xperia Z1 f (SO-02F) aka Xperia Z1 mini is real, NTT DoCoMo has just formally announced the handset along with the Xperia Z1 (SO-01F). The specs are as previously rumoured, with the handset due to launch in late December. The Xperia Z1 f will come in four colours including striking lime and pink versions along with the traditional black and white variants.
Much like the Xperia Z1, the Xperia Z1 f has an aluminium frame. It pretty much adopts most of the same hardware as the Z1 including the Snapdragon 800 chipset with 2.2GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 330 graphics, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage with microSD memory card support. It also includes IP55/IP58 dust and water resistance, a 20.7MP Exmor RS rear camera and 2.2MP front camera.
The main difference over the Xperia Z1 includes the smaller 4.3-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and a 2300mAh embedded battery. All this comes in a chassis measuring 65 mm × 127mm × 9.4mm and weighs 140g. If Sony is considering releasing this globally, look for it at CES 2014. We really hope they do, as it looks like stunning handset in a smaller package, without any compromise on specs.
