Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 805 chipset; could we see this in an upcoming Xperia?

Qualcomm has unveiled its latest chipset in the form of the Snapdragon 805 “Ultra HD” Processor. The Snapdragon 805 has a Krait 450 quad-core CPU with 2.5GHz clock speeds. It features the new Adreno 420 GPU, which Qualcomm claims delivers 40 percent more GPU power than that found in the Snapdragon 800 chipset (Adreno 330).

It says that users will be able to experience images and graphics at Ultra HD (4K) resolution, both on device and via Ultra HD TVs. This would include 4K video capture and playback and enhanced dual camera Image Signal Processors (ISPs). Other features include Gpixel/s throughput camera support and support for Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) for video post processing.

In more recent times, Sony has been using the latest mobile chipsets from Qualcomm, so there is hope that we will see an Xperia device with this powerful chipset at some point in 2014. Qualcomm says it expects the Snapdragon 805 chipset to launch in commercial devices by the first half of 2014.
