Sony D6603 model number leaks in benchmark

A new Sony Xperia model number has leaked, indicating that it may the potential 2014 flagship. The Sony D6603 model has appeared in the AnTuTu benchmark, achieving a score of 32,996 points. The only other high-end model number we have seen so far includes the D6503, which was believed to leaked earlier today.

It could highlight that Sony is adopting a similar strategy last year when it launched two flagships: the Xperia Z (C660X) and Xperia ZL (C650X). The latter was one of the smallest handsets sporting a 5-inch display but was not water resistant and only appeared in select regions. Sony pushed the Xperia Z as its global flagship, but was larger than the ZL and did not include the ZL’s IR blaster. We’ll wait to see what strategy Sony is pushing in 2014, but early indications suggest a similar move.
