Xperia Z1_14.3.A.0.681Good news for Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact owners, it looks like Android 4.4.2 KitKat will shortly be heading to your devices. Firmware build 14.3.A.0.681 has been certified for both handsets, including the C6943 model number of the Z1 and D5503 model number of the Z1 Compact.

This is the same firmware version that we saw a leaked screenshot of recently, along with the leaked system dump. The latter confirmed that, on the Xperia Z Ultra at least, the KitKat update would NOT include a number of features seen on the Xperia Z2 such as 4K video, Timeshift video, Tap to wake, Smart call handling, Smart backlight control and Glove mode (already included in the Xperia Z1 Compact). We’ll bring you more news as we have it.

Update: All variants of the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra have now seen the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware certified with build number 14.3.A.0.681.
