We recently reported on an upcoming handset called the Xperia A2 (SO-04F), which is due to launch in Japan through NTT DoCoMo this summer. The Xperia A2 is expected to be similar to the Xperia Z1 f (or Xperia Z1 Compact as it is known globally), with a 4.3-inch display and will come in new colours. What we don’t know at this stage is specs, but some rumours suggest they will be very similar to the existing Z1 Compact and will not follow the specs of the Xperia Z2.
This could be the reason why Sony has decided to use a different name in the Xperia A2, rather than calling it the Xperia Z2 f. A new leaked brochure shows that the handset will not support 4K video recording, which could highlight that it won’t run the same chipset as the Xperia Z2. The brochure compares which camera apps will feature on the Xperia Z2 (SO-03F) versus the Xperia A2 (SO-04F) and Xperia Z2 Tablet (SO-05F). The leak shows that another feature is not supported on the Xperia A2, but our Japanese is not up to scratch, so if someone can translate please let us know in the comments below.
