Xperia Movie Creator_3Sony has released a new application this morning for the Xperia Z2 called “Movie Creator”, with build number 2.0.A.0.9. The Xperia Movie Creator automatically creates short videos of around 30 seconds in length using existing photos and videos. The idea is very similar to Google+’s Auto Awesome Movie mode.

The software will automatically determine the timeline to create its movie – so it could take a selection of photos/videos from a Saturday afternoon, or for a three-day period or for a week. When the film is created you will be notified (notifications can be turned off in the settings).

These ‘Highlight Movies” can be edited – you can change titles, delete scenes or even change the music. Videos can then be exported to use in other apps or to be shared. It’s a nice idea from the videos we checked out. The application is available to download OTA (9.9 MB) via the Update Centre right now. If you haven’t received the update yet, the APK can be downloaded here.

Update: The Movie Creator app is also hitting the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra.
