The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact recently passed through the FCC in two variants: FCC ID PY7PM-0810 and PY7PM-0812. At this stage, we have not seen details that confirm which of these FCC ID numbers correlates with the Xperia Z3 Compact model numbers D5803 (M55w) and D5833.
Interestingly, the FCC documents did reveal the dimensions of the Xperia Z3 Compact. They point to the handset having overall dimensions of 127 x 64.9 mm and a display diagonal of 116 mm (4.57-inches). These numbers tie in exactly with the previous leak we saw on the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact dimensions.
Using these figures we can calculate that the Xperia Z3 Compact has the third highest screen to phone size ratio of any Sony Xperia device. The Xperia Z3 Compact’s ratio comes in at 69.85%, marginally ahead of the Xperia Z (69.83%), but behind the Xperia ZL (74.97%) and Xperia T2 Ultra (71.69%).
With specifications expected to be very similar to the Xperia Z3 (Snapdragon 801, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage and 20.7MP camera), this is a device we’re very keen to hear more about as we approach the expected reveal at IFA on 3 September 2014.
