Apple this evening announced a number of new products including the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus (not forgetting the Apple Watch). Given pretty much every tech site has been covering the event and thoughts on the products over the last few hours, we won’t bore you with the details that you probably already know.
However, here are five features that the Xperia Z3 has over the iPhone 6. We’ve tried to be fair and not list Android-specific features, but if you can think of anymore let us know in the comments below. Sony has been trolling the event too, tweeting “Better than bigger.” Here’s some key reasons why we think that is the case (and we haven’t even touched the design, camera, battery life comparisons).
Five features the Xperia Z3 has over the iPhone 6
Display PPI: Apple led the way when it came to PPI pixel density when the iPhone 4 was first announced, but it has trailed Android flagship devices since then. The iPhone 6 doesn’t change this, which has a 4.7-inch (1334×750) IPS display giving 326 PPI. This compares to the Xperia Z3’s 5.2-inch (1080 x 1920) IPS display with 424 PPI pixel density. The Xperia Z2 brought one of the best ever displays to the Sony Xperia brand and it looks like the Z3 will continue to fly this flag.
Water proof: The Xperia Z3 has the highest level of dust & water resistance available with an IP rating of IP65/68. Sony says that you can use the phone while swimming in fresh water for up to 30 minutes up to a depth of 1.5 metres.
Stereo speakers / High-res audio: The Xperia Z3 has stereo speakers and also includes DSEE HX (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine), which allows you to upscale heavily compressed songs in AAC/MP3 to near High-Resolution sound quality.
4K video recording: The Xperia Z3 allows you to record at 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, ideal for playback on a 4K TV or projector which are starting to hit the mainstream. The iPhone 6 is capable of 1080p HD video recording at 60 fps.
PS4 Remote Play: This feature will only appeal to gamers, but it is a neat one nonetheless. PS4 Remote Play allows you to stream games from your PlayStation 4 to your Xperia Z3 through your wireless network. What’s great is that games can be played with the DUALSHOCK®4 controller using a special mount, which means you can share the TV with the family without missing out on your gaming action.
