One of Sony’s big marketing claims around the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact was the two-day battery life. The Xperia Z3 has a 3100mAh battery (Xperia Z2: 3200mAh), whilst the Xperia Z3 Compact has a 2600mAh battery (Xperia Z1 Compact: 2300mAh).
Sony’s boast of its two-day battery life looks well founded judging by some tests from GSM Arena and PhoneArena. The results from both sites place the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact near the top of the tree when it comes to battery life (excluding phablets).
PhoneArena managed to get 10 hours 2 minutes from the Xperia Z3 Compact and 9 hours 29 minutes from the Xperia Z3. They tested it using a custom script trying to replicate real-life non-stop usage. GSM Arena’s web browsing test, the closest to PhoneArena’s test, managed 14 hours and 52 minutes. Overall, these are some great times in terms of battery. We’re very pleased to see that Sony has focused on such a useful area for all users.
