Which Sony Xperia devices will get Android M? Place your bets

Android MSo Google has announced the latest Android iteration in the form of Android M. We’ve heard about some of the cool features on the way and now the questions turn inevitably to 1) which Xperia devices will get the update and 2) when will it arrive?

With regards to the first question, it’s pretty certain that we will see the Xperia Z3+ and Z4 Tablet get the update, along with any other flagship series launched this year. However, when it comes to the existing Xperia Z series, should we still expect Sony to update the older Xperia Z series (Z, ZL, ZR Tablet Z) for example?

In our view it would be unlikely, especially when you consider the second question and the likely arrival date for Sony devices is likely to be in 2016. It is debatable whether we’d even see the update on the Xperia Z1 series and Z Ultra, however there would be an expectation that it would arrive on the Xperia Z2 and Z3 series.

Which models do you think will get the update and do you feel Sony has a duty to update the older Xperia Z series? If you own one of these devices, would you be upset if you didn’t see another major Android iteration on your Xperia Z, ZL, ZR or Tablet Z? We’d love to hear your thoughts below.
