Sony was always going to end up promoting its technology in the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, due for release later this year. Now a new “Made for Bond” advert has been released featuring Miss Moneypenny evading some bad guys along with a couple of its newest gadgets – the Sony Xperia Z5 and the RX100 IV camera.
In a nice touch, the Xperia Z5 has the time as 07.00 in the brief second it appears in the video, along with the date “Friday 6 November”. This is the date that the movie will launch in the United States (it actually arrives in the UK on 26 October 2015). Expect to see more promotions as we get closer to the movie launch. In the meantime, check out the video below.
Update: Sony has released a few more details about the new TV campaign. It was shot on Sony’s F65 professional 4K cinema camera and directed by Danny Kleinman (the man behind many Bond title sequences) and was set against the backdrop of London’s South Bank. The ‘Made for Bond’ advertising campaign will first air on TV in the UK on 1 October and run until 8 November 2015. The campaign will span print, retail, digital and OOH.
Actress Naomie Harris, who plays Moneypenny, describes the advert as an “action-packed mini movie in itself.” Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO of Sony added: “Sony has been a proud partner of the iconic Bond films since Casino Royale. While both the Xperia Z5 and RX100 IV are action-packed and full of features, they are also real, everyday-life gadgets. Whether being used by Moneypenny on undercover surveillance or a creative photographer who wants to take and share outstanding photography captured on social channels, they’re easy to use, pocketable and award-winning products for day-to-day and secret agent use alike.”
