Probably the biggest complaint we have heard when Sony Mobile updated Xperia devices to Marshmallow, was the removal of STAMINA mode. Sony’s STAMINA mode has been a part of its smartphones since 2013 and offers a way to preserve battery life by reducing background activities.
The feature was removed from Xperia Marshmallow as Google’s Doze mode, which is baked into Marshmallow, is meant to do something similar. However, Doze is primarliy activiated if there is no movement. We’ve received a number of complaints pointing to the fact that battery life using STAMINA on Lollipop significantly outlasts the battery life using Doze on Marshmallow. Anyway, Sony developers running the Beta Marshmallow program have now confirmed that STAMINA mode will be making a return on Marshmallow, which is great news. See the full statement below.
STAMINA MODE IS COMING BACK
Great news. One of the most requested features is coming back to your Xperia running Marshmallow: Stamina mode.
We don’t have a release schedule yet, but the feature will be definitely available for members of the Xperia Beta Program in the near future.
