The Android 7.0 Nougat Beta is now rolling to the lucky few Xperia X Performance owners who managed to get into the trial. The beta is only open for the single SIM variant (F8131) of the Xperia X Performance across select regions. Users will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat with firmware build number 39.2.A.0.248, which includes the 1 October Google Security patches.
First impressions show that the new firmware does not highlight a radical change in user interface, as expected. You get a number of native Android 7.0 features such as split-screen and the changes to the notification panel. However, other Sony changes include new options to the camera app with manual shutter speed control and manual ISO control at 23MP. The update also includes the latest STAMINA mode.
There also seem to be some bug fixes with users reporting the long-standing auto-rotating bug has been resolved and touch sensitivity has been improved. We have included a few screenshots below and a couple of videos giving a quick tour across the new interface. We’ll update with further impressions as we have them.
