Netflix adds HDR support for the Xperia XZ1

in Applications, Xperia XZ series

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium was the first smartphone to ship with a 4K HDR-enabled display. The HDR feature is limited to certain apps, including Amazon Prime and Netflix. Other manufacturers have also jumped on board with their own HDR displays recently, most notably with the LG V30 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

While last week, Sony announced the Xperia XZ1 with its own HDR display. Netflix has updated its support page, confirming that the app now supports HDR playback on all of these devices, in its latest firmware. To stream Netflix in HDR you will need version 5.0 of the Netflix app for Android. The Xperia XZ1 is due to go on sale towards the end of the month.
