Sony H8541 spec sheet appears – could this be the next Xperia flagship?

in Rumours

A purported spec sheet for a Sony H8541 Xperia smartphone popped up on Reddit, which looks to have been snapped from someone’s screen in China. If true, the model number alone suggests we are looking at a premium device, although the specs themselves appear to belong very much to 2017, and not entirely different to the Xperia XZ Premium.

What is likely to be different, however, is the design. Assuming that Sony continues to use a 16:9 ratio display – we have seen no evidence so far that suggests Sony is moving to 18:9 – then it looks like the Sony H8541 will have some of the slimmest bezels yet seen on an Xperia device. This handset is rumoured to incorporate a 5.7-inch 4K display in a body with dimensions of 149 x 74 x 7.5 mm.

Don’t assume bezels will be as slim as the iPhone X or Galaxy S8 though, the more likely outcome is something similar to the Xperia XA1 Ultra. This will enable Sony to broadly keep its design signature without looking like a ‘me-too’ bezel-less clone. Reddit user Piastavgo created some mock-ups giving an idea of what to expect. Let us know what you think of this type of design in the comments below.

In terms of other rumoured specs, the Sony H8541 will use a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and support IP68 water resistance. It will have a 3420mAh battery and include Bluetooth 5.0, running on Android 8.0 Oreo.
