Sony Mobile is set to launch the Xperia L2 (H43XX) and Xperia XA2 Ultra (H42XX) smartphones in 2018. The names of both phones were outed by telecoms regulators in Malaysia and Thailand. The naming choices follows on from this year’s models, which included the entry-level Xperia L1, and mid-range 6-inch Xperia XA1 Ultra.

There were a number of models in the Xperia XA1 series this year, including a normal sized 5-inch Xperia XA1, as well as a 5.5-inch XA1 Plus. Given the number of model numbers already released so far, there’s a good chance Sony will be doing the same in 2018, with Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Plus models.

The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra (H4213, H4233) has previously been spotted in benchmarking site GFXBench. This revealed a device that had a 6-inch FHD display, running Android 8.0 Oreo, and powered by a Snapdragon 630 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The only thing we know about the Xperia L2 (H4311, H4331) is that it has a 720p display, Bluetooth 4.2 and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

There’s a good chance that we might see some new Sony smartphone news appear at CES on 8 January 2018. We’ll keep you posted.
