Well this is a sweet surprise – Sony Mobile has commenced the rollout of Android 9 Pie for the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. The update is currently rolling out over-the-air (OTA) across a number of regions, with a file size of 1,059MB. Sony has moved the build number from 51.1.A.11.51 to version 52.0.A.3.27 with this update, and it includes the latest 1 October Android security patches too.
It’s good to see that Sony has included the new camera app with the update, although there is no portrait selfie mode. Sony should be commended on releasing this update so timely, hopefully it gives confidence that other Xperia devices due to receive Android Pie will also receive them in a timely manner.
