Now that Sony has announced the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II, it doesn’t take much imagination to expect that Sony will also launch the Xperia 5 II later in the year (assuming no change of plans due to the coronavirus pandemic). The Xperia 5 was a smaller flagship compared to the Xperia 1, but with a 6.1-inch FHD+ display, it was still too big to replace the void left by the absence of the earlier ‘Compact’ Xperia range.
The buzz around the Xperia 1 II (Mark 2) has been overwhelmingly positive, many fans applaud Sony’s decision to bring back the 3.5mm headphone jack – but even outside that, this looks to be one of the most well-rounded Sony Xperia smartphones in years. However, for those that might find the 6.5-inch display too big in the Xperia 1 II, would you be happy enough just to see a slightly more pocketable version in the Xperia 5 II (Mark 2)?
It is interesting to see Sony introduce a notch in the Xperia L4 budget phone, while keeping the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II notch-free. Would you like to see the Xperia 5 II notch free, or would you like Sony to utilise more of that display real estate and don’t mind if Sony adopted a punch hole camera or something similar?
Perhaps, you feel that the 6.1-inch display size of the original Xperia 5 was too big, and yearn for something similar to the original ‘Compact’ phones? What other design or feature changes would you like to see Sony bring in the Xperia 5 II? What would be your ideal wishlist? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
