Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) has followed up on his recent CAD leak of what will likely be the Xperia 10 III (Mark 3), with renders of a new device. Steve categorises this device as a new Xperia Compact model, however this model will not be a flagship device according to our sources.
Xperia Compact devices were so revered by fans as they packed in flagship specs into a smaller former factor, much like what Apple has done with the iPhone 12 mini. Instead, this new leaked device is likely to be a smaller successor to the Xperia L4 from last year, or similar model targeted to the budget range.
This would tie in with the fact that this has a waterdrop notch and dual rear camera setup – last year’s Xperia L4 also had a notch and a triple rear camera. The Xperia L4 was the first and only Xperia phone so far to sport a notch. This new device leaked has dimensions of 140 x 68.9 x 8.9 mm, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a fingerprint sensor embedded with the power button and dedicated camera button. Steve says that the primary rear camera is a 12MP shooter, with a 8MP front-facing selfie camera.
It’s nice Sony is making a smaller device, but for Xperia Compact fans everywhere this is unlikely to be the saviour you are waiting for. We’ll bring you more details once the phone is announced.
Thanks Diogo!
