Xperia PLAY SO-01DJapan will be jumping onto the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY bandwagon as NTT DoCoMo has announced that it will be stocking the handset during Q4. Xperia PLAY (SO-01D) pre-orders will start in the middle of October at docomo shops, although pricing details remain absent for now.

We don’t envisage there being any differences with this Japanese version versus the models that are already out. However, the Xperia PLAY SO-01D will come with support for DoCoMo’s FOMA high speed network and will include POBox Touch 4.3 (the Japanese/English predictive text system). Maybe, just maybe, the launch will coincide with some greater Playstation content on the handheld (PSN Suite anyone?), what with the handset entering Sony’s native homeland.

Update: We’ve included a NTT DoCoMo promo video of the Xperia PLAY SO-01D below.
