CyanogenMod 7 officially coming to Xperia smartphones

Steve Kondik, CyanogenMod’s chief developer, has officially confirmed that CyanogenMod 7 (CM7) will be supporting all of the currently released Xperia smartphones in an upcoming release. This includes support for all of the 2010 and 2011 Xperia devices.

CyanogenMod has been working with the FreeXperia team to make this happen and Kondik confirmed that FreeXperia is now part of the CM development group. This is great news and gives our Xperia phones support from one of the most recognised Android developer groups. This will finally be a great reason to get those bootloaders unlocked. If you are a Sony Ericsson owner you may be interested in knowing that the upcoming CyanogenMod release will feature support for 10 new devices. This is a joint work between CyanogenMod and the FreeXperia team, which is now also part of the CM development group.

like waking up your phone with trackpad instead of awkward power-button on my HTC desire Z, changing brightness by sliding statusbar left/right or dissmissing events from the list in a convenient way…
small things but then hundreads of other things together with latest android _supported_(not experimental) linux kernel with overclocking ability (plus many do get longer battery), themes support, decent launcher (adw) instead of touchwiz/motoblur&comp dissaster and so on and so forth…

of course built from the latest android (2.3.5 currently) AOSP (so no manufacturer’s bloatware here) also means great phone support – if Sony Ericsson is forcing you to use froyo (2.2), with ICS (?4.0?) possible on some devices (will be a gigantic change so it’ll take time) in future…

last but not least, translation list is growing, so if your manufacture only supports 4 basic languages, you get more with CM, say czech and recently even slovak language! Your mother would be glad

I would like to ask a specific question: I tried many of the custom Gingerbread Roms for my x10 mini and they all work great except for one thing: ANT+ does not work. Will this change now?
