New firmware has been released for the Sony Xperia P. Before Xperia P owners get too excited, this looks like a low-key release, the update will give you firmware build number 6.0.B.3.162. With no official changelog we don’t know how it differs from the existing 6.0.B.1.564 firmware, although it remains an Android 2.3.7 update. We imagine this is just a stability release before the Android 4.0.4 ICS update arrives in Q3 2012.

already updated my Xperia U with this firmware, wait for ICS!

  • I updated my Xperia arc with ICS; some things are good, others are bad. The ones bad are very bad: Wi-Fi doesn`t function properly (almost at all), also the notification led, it doesn`t keep some of my custom settings, the livewallpapers with the magic smoke it`s just an delusion etc I don`t know if it`s worth updating; depending on the phone. Maybe NXt series are better, although I saw a lots of complaints on the internet. I was unhappy with Xperia x 10, arc it`s disappointing too, I don`t think that my next phone it will be another Xperia; maybe acro S, if will hit my country, but I doubted…

  • Visit my complaint before update…

  • There is a big network issues with this new FW! The phone lost network connection very often. First i think about a hardware issues and defective sim card. Sim card is changed, firmware is flashed again and the problem still exists – mainly in GSM mode, it looks like the 3G mode is working without connection drops…

At the sony mobile forum there are also the first posts about that:

Personally, I think they have far too many devices now. Less is more, not to mention it allows them to commit resources to fewer projects.

The better fix the notification problems on the ray! Now I alwasy have to check the screen if I missed something ;(

  • I am having exactly the same problem on my Xperia U. It’s just so disappointing that it persists in the newest firmware. I just hope Sony would release another update really soon.

    Hello,

Yesterday I tried to install the update 6.0.B.3.162 using Sony PC
Companion, but while it was updating the electric power was turned off.

Now I have no operating system. When I turn on my Xperia P only appears the logo of Sony.

I tried to connect my phone to my computer using Flastool for reinstall the OS manually but don’t recognized it.

    What I can do?

    Thank you very much!
