New firmware 6.0.B.3.184 rolls out for Xperia U; certified for Xperia go, P and sola

in Firmware, Xperia go, Xperia P, Xperia sola, Xperia U

Sony Mobile is currently rolling out new Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread firmware (version number 6.0.B.3.184) for the Sony Xperia U. This firmware was certified two days ago on PTCRB along with the other Xperia handsets that use the NovaThor chipset (the Xperia go and Xperia sola). The Sony Xperia P has also had the same firmware certified today. We don’t know what the new update brings, so if you have tried it, let us know in the comments below.

Update: It looks like this firmware sorts out the network selection issues that a number of people have been suffering from. [Thanks Ambroos!]

    with the case in http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/502718060/cover_for_xperia_neo_s_mt18i.html

I’m sorry, but its not too match
    Sorry for my bad english

  • Ambroos

I doubt that is true. The type number points to a 2011 release. I think it was the single-core 1.4Ghz version of the normal Neo, like the Arc S was actually just an Arc.

Sony probably canned the idea, because of sensor shortages they went with the Neo V instead.

Finally! That network issues were just a pain in the ass. I had to reboot the phone almost every couple of hours because it just lost signal and refused to connect again. I hope it doesn’t take long to show up on my phone.

Just updated my Xperia P, yesterday it was popping up with infamous .162 update and the check on the phone indicated the same build.  Went ahead with the update (call me mad!) and found that the update was with the .184 firmware.  Still curious why the Aug rollout of ICS has not occurred though.

    My location: Sri Lanka

How exactly do you get new firmware? My Xperia P is still on 6.0.B.1.564 which is what the phone had when I got it. Update Center reports no new updates. Phone bought new in th UK, SIM only.

I Just updated the Firmware on my Xperia P looks like the phone is faster in response, i used to find sluggishness on the live wallpaper before the update now its much better.

Tired of waiting for ICS update while other phones in the market are showing off the ICS Sony still is far behind in this. Buckle up Sony….

I’ve been a Sony owner since getting a T68i when it came out and this GO will be my as Sony doesn’t support Uk owners, had a Neo before and they didn’t release ICS in the UK for it, now the Go is supported either only .162 no .171 no .174, no .177 and NO .184 and probably NO ICS.

The new 6.0.B.3.184 firmware will not resolve network issue as I have updated my Xperia sola with it last night and still facing the problem. I contacted Xperia support and they told that this 6.0.B.3.184 firmware is not for network issue and they assured that another firmware version for networrk issue will release very soon this month……… :-)

    Hi,

Last week I bought Sony XPeria GO.

I am facing trouble on signal range. i.e. when I put my cell in mobile cover or in Pant’s pocket, the range will gone and cross (x) sign is coming on range display. Range is fine for same network on another phone.

When I restart my phone, then it will work fine for some time.

    Please advice.

Just connect your Sola to PC/Laptop. If you have sony PC companion installed it will pop up a window once your phone is connected saying new updates are available. proceed and follow the steps as shown on the screen. if you don’t have sony pc companion installed, get it first. :)

  • Amit

This update is brilliant! Hats off to Sony…
The network drop issue in my Xperia U is still present to some extent but now I don’t have to switch my phone on and off every time it happens, it automatically re-acquires the signal in a few seconds. But the best part is that my battery life has been extended from 26 hours to an incredible 102 hours (more than 4 days) ! With intense gaming and lots of Wi-Fi , I get about 3 days and 9 hours. If you haven’t got it yet, get it right now. You will have to update it via PC companion.
I hope Sony solves the camera issues in the next update.Cheers!

I have an Xperia U and have just tried to update to 6.0.B.3.184 through Sony Bridge for Mac, but every time I click to update my phone disconnects and shuts down. Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know how i might fix it?

  • João Pinho

Hi! I bought a Go a month ago and works perfectly. I didn’t even have the network problem, maybe I’m just lucky… I can’t find any downside at all for this phone, for now! Many people complained about screen resolution but I didn’t find it a problem, the display is very good – obviously not as perfect as a Galaxy S3, but that’s a top notch phone! Cheers
