Xperia J Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update now rolling out

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is now making its way to the Sony Xperia J (ST26i). The entry-level handset has seen its firmware updated to version number 11.2.A.0.21 as expected. Like other JB Xperia updates, the kernel has been updated to 3.4.

The Xperia J is the third handset from the 2012 Xperia range to be updated to Jelly Bean. The other ones include the Xperia T/TL (LT30p, LT30at, LT30a) and Xperia V (LT25i). The Sony Xperia TX (LT29i) is due to be updated within the next couple of weeks, with other handsets thereafter.

    I too am sad about my XS not getting the update yet, but I will give Sony props for staying true to their communicated timeline for the JB updates per device. Feels like they are doing better at not being late compared to last year.

    i don’t think so. 30 march is on saturday, they never rolled any update on saturday or sunday (or did they?). it will be out in like 29.03 or after easter :)

    no body cares that the S doesn’t have Jellybean yet, Sony said when it will get it, if you din’t like it when they said this why not get a different phone instead of bitching for months. You could have saved the money to buy another phone if you’d put as much effort into earning money for another phone as you did bitching. Idiots.

    I know it feels harsh that the Xperia S got a very raw deal as far as software goes. First, a very doggy ics build that never got better and then the long wait for newer firmware.
    I can’t excuse Sony for the former, it was criminal of Sony to leave the phone languishing on a poor ics build for so long without anything resembling a fix but for the latter, I think the delay must do with the fact that the S and co have a gingerbread style button layout that needs remapping. I think it’s just easier to port the JB build to devices with the ics/jb layout. Task switcher instead of menu button. That’s probably why the ion will be last because it has the added search button.

    I just updated my J.
    So far I do not see a lot of changes, just a few minor tweaks in the top bar.

    Although I am under the impression some things are a bit less smooth then before.
    Checking images with the image viewer for example.

    2011 Xperia phones got early ICS, but if you look at the ICS on 2011 phones compared to 2012 phones, they are so much different, 2011 Xperia ICS feels like beta version.

    It seems like this is happening once again, Xperia J JB is beta version, and the more high-end phones gets the better more complete version later.

    in xda forum xperia j users says that the update doesnt contain the new launcher, nor the lockscreen, nor google now, no phone´s white skin, and more, what a waste of time from sony,im a xperia s user, and i bet the the xperia s share is bigger than p+j+ion+sl+acro s together

    if XDA devs can port the ROM (since the same foundation in it) then yeah bring it on Xperia J :) I understand that Sony feels that Xperia 2011 won’t be supported that much, if they still support it, i imagine what would be the cost and the human resource needed for it. So here’s to XDA devs, who saves our life on ROM at the time ;)

    According to Sony its because the Sola’s GPU utilizes an enormous amount of RAM and would run terribly on Jelly Bean. Kinda tough to swallow that its possible to have worse RAM management than the Sola’s current ICS build…50 to 70mb free if youre lucky.

    Just add battery percentage ( can switch on or off)

    This is why the Xperia S, will be my last Sony. I doubt Google would release a Nexus device from them, if they did I might reconsider. Sony, has done it time and again. Users buy their premium handsets, and a year later they are ignored, while preference is given to even the lowest models for software updates. Great job! Seriously, the S has an amazing camera and screen, but looking at this, even Apple way better at you guys, that too using your camera sensor. . .

    sony already that the xperia tipo won’t be getting jelly bean and ics is the last major update for the tipo so other then any other websites that claim the xperia tipo to get jelly bean is false and not official

    Would be interested to see how this performs. Sony’s excuse for not upgrading the 2011 Xperias was that they were underpowered, yet are more powerful than Xperia J.

    The thing that annoys me most about ICS on my Xperia Pro though is just how buggy it is, and how incredibly unresponsive the keyboard has become when compared to Gingerbread.

    I own a J n a S- JB on the J is a lot smoother, Google now is there as Google search, Games like Angry Birds run pretty smooth n lagfree( unlike on ics where they used to lag like hell). I used to hate the J when it was on ICS but now im feel its awesome- just the right size and it runs pretty anything

    I just check via PC Companion ( Xperia J ), but there is no JB. Don`t know did the coutry or region metter? I`m in Bulgaria and in our Andoird forum couple of guys, living in Germany, said that they received the update for Xperia J.

    Every time there’s any sort of update update listed on this site, you get a whole bunch of Xperia S owners complaining that they should have got an update. It’s getting a little pathetic folks. I’m sure Sony is doing it’s best with the updates and possibly doing the easiest phones first? If the Xperia S got the first update and it was full of bugs, we’d hear even more complaints from you lot. I’m an Xperia P owner and I’m happy to wait my turn. Later in the year when there’s an even more important update to Android 5, try not to bitch so much or you won’t deserve a slice of Key Lime Pie!

    At last someone is out there! I really hate all those folks who mess up the Xperia J blogs with their complaints. It is almost impossible to find any Xperia J related posts. Why the heck don’t they complain in the blogs related to their phones instead of messing up this one? Or even better go to Sony and complain there…

    I have Xperia J and PC companion says that my device is up to date…which is not, ’cause I have 4.0.1. Probably Eastern Europe or maybe Vodafone will rolling out after 4-5 weeks from official release, so I have to wait further
