Xperia ZR not heading to Australia or Singapore

by XB on 25th May 2013

in Xperia ZR

26_1_Xperia_ZRThe limited availability of the Xperia ZR (C550X) won’t only be seen in Europe, but will also extend to South East Asia and Australia. From our understanding, there is currently no plans to launch the Xperia ZR in Singapore or Australia.

However, a number of South East Asian countries will be getting the device including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. We expect pricing to be similar to the €479 price point in the Netherlands.

It’s disappointing that the Xperia ZR won’t come to Australia. I quite like the look of it and it’s feature set. I have no interest in the Xperia Z. It’s a little too big and I don’t like the glass back much either.

  • kiljaeden

Well, that sucks. I was absolutely certain the XZR would be my first Xperia phone since arc S.

  • Dimitris

Such a good phone… not heading anywhere really.. so dissappointed.

And America ? I’m french and I haven’t understand all. (I’ll buy a phone in america this summer, they are much cheaper than France)

  • phillip

XPERIA zl would be perfect for you

  • Andrew

    Neither to Hungary (Europe)…

  • mountain

The price of phones in asia are normally cheaper than europe due to tax. I would expect ZR to be around €400 when available.

America is always the last country to get new Xperias. Sometimes new xperia models never arrive to america, like the xperia v and z.

  • Arokhantos

Does it matter ? no one gonna buy it anyway anymore.

  • xperiajapan

    Thanks to your answer.

Let’s hope they don’t pull the same kind of stunt with the Honami

A new battery appeared in Sony website for the ZR, the BA950, but nothing about it’s capacity ! No specs available!

As someone from Singapore, I would say we are probably to blame for this. Sony must have being pissed that the Galaxy S4 is outselling Xperia Z despite the Z being $200 cheaper. (Both are 16GB versions) BTW, Xperia phones are seriously underpriced here. Xperia SP is $250 cheaper than the S3 and the Xperia Z is only $40 more expensive than the S3. Not to mention the fact that 50% of the population uses iPhones.

this is what happen when ppl buy stuffs because of the brand, same with Apple stuffs. Personally Samsung brand for me is something to avoid at all cost. S3 owner here….

I too am disappointed and annoyed with Sony…and I’ve never even owned a Sony mobile phone yet. It’s the same story in the UK. I was interested in the Xperia acro S earlier in 2012 but it never came to Britain. Then I decided I would get the Xperia V, but that didn’t launch here either. The Z did but is too big and power-hungry for me. Now the 4.6-inch Xperia ZR is announced which would suit me perfectly and…Sony tell me it will not be released here either, depite it showing as ‘coming soon’ on its UK website. How can people deal with such a company? It appears I willl have to dismiss Sony as a possibility and try Apple, Samsung, HTC, Motorola/Google (I have a Moto Defy) or someone else. My message to Sony would be this: if you make the phones, and especially if you announce them on country’s websites, then release the damn phones to market and let the public choose for themselves. All this messing about just pisses people off and you lose their trust and faith in you as a company. How simple does Apple look after all this?! Much better customer care too.

Then Sony will complain that they are not making money. I believe this ZR would really smash a huge sales, considering the specs and its pricing, durability, a perfect screen size of 4.55″ these is what I need in a smartphone.

Xperia ZR is the Sony smartphone i’m waiting for. Currently using Xperia S but XZR specs are a lot catchy and better use for me. I work outdoors alot so please I believe alot of consumers from Singapore, Australia and other countries love to grab XZR too. Pls bring in here..i’m from Singapore
