Xperia Z T-Mobile_1T-Mobile USA yesterday announced launch details for the Xperia Z (C6606). The handset will go on pre-order on the T-Mobile website on 16 July and then will be available on 17 July in stores and online. In terms of price, the Xperia Z will cost $99.99 upfront and then $20 per month for 24 months.

Two Xperia Z (C6606) colours will be available including black and purple. If you pre-order the device from T-Mobile, you will also receive a free Sony Wireless Bluetooth Speaker whilst stocks last.

If you don’t want to be tied to a contract, then the Xperia Z (C6606) is available right now sim-free for $579.99 via 38 Sony Store locations or the Sony Store website. For a limited time, you will also be able to get a free Sony Bluetooth Wireless Speaker through the Sony Store.

If you’re wondering how the T-Mobile Xperia Z (C6606) differs from the international version (C6602, C6603) , it mainly comes down to LTE support for T-Mobile’s bands. Another addition is T-Mobile branding on the back of the device, which is a shame as we’re never keen on carrier logos ruining the good look of a smartphone.

What I was looking for yesterday and couldn’t find was if this variant also supported AT&T’s LTE bands (along with T-Mo’s). Also is the version on Sony’s site locked to T-Mo? I assume it’d be unlockable easily enough.

I really want my next phone to have LTE support. It’s becoming ubiquitous enough in the US now to have if at all possible…

I want to know this too! My Z the c6603 gets pretty slow data on AT&T sometimes if I’m not in good areas

Should’ve gone for the C6602 (HSPA+ pentaband), which I’m still considering since I know it will work w/AT&T.

The C6603 I thought only had LTE for Europe?

  • Wolf0491

Yeah when I was buying for some reason I never saw one person recommending that one :-. Then few weeks later I noticed it. I don’t know if I bought before available or what. I can’t really resell either since I have a decent knick on one corner from a seven foot drop lol. But yes LTE only Europe. Don’t need LTE really but if I go out my city even H+ sucks haha

I’m curious about this too. I have a C6506 working great on AT&T LTE so I presume it would be the same. Carrier unlocked also very important. It’s a shame the T-Mob logo is stuck on the back there

  • Sony

The Sony website only lists LTE Band IV, which T-Mobile uses. AT&T uses both IV and XVII, so not fully supported.

How come in the Philippines we don’t evan have any promotional for the Sony devices! Can’t we have the same promotion as this? Unfair!!!

Five months after announcement? That soooooo sad, in two months will be announced the new flagship. Sony have to do important changes and not take so much time to launch theirs phones
